Morning Message from your Teachers
Happy Monday! We hope that you had a good weekend. This week, we will be continuing to read a little, write a little, and play a lot. How can you help someone today? Can you show an act of kindness? Listen to today’s read aloud to hear more about how you can do this.
Love,
Your K/1 Teachers
Morning Message
Dear Victor Primary,
It is Mindset Monday. What makes you feel loved? It may be kind words. It may be hugs from people you love. It may be when someone does something nice to you. Now, think about the things you love. Spread that love to the people that you live with.
You’ve Got This!
Reading
Description of Work:
Today you are going to listen to the story, Glenna’s Seeds, by Nancy Edwards.
Talk to someone about these things:
Did you think it was a good ending?
Would you change the ending in any way?
What acts of kindness can you do this week?
Find the small pack of “fast plant” seeds from your packet from the school. If you can get outside to collect some dirt to plant them. You can also use a sponge and “plant” them if you can’t get outside. Watch them grow and bloom like an act of kindness from the book. When your plant sprouts, share a picture with your teacher. Water it each day!
If you didn’t get your packet from the school, do you have seeds at your house? Find somewhere to plant them :)
Read for 10 minutes today. Can you read one of your Scholastic Magazines this week each day? Have a helper read it with you if you need help. Answer the questions on the back of the Scholastic Magazine.
Word Work / Vocabulary
Description of Work:
This week we will review sight words and play online games. What words do you know as a writer in a snap? Pick 5 new words each day this week and practice them. Pick them from your word wall chart. Choose a new way to practice each day:

Write them in shaving cream
Use a wet paintbrush on paper or or the driveway
Water color them on paper
Spell them using goldfish, cereal, or fruit snacks
If you have not finished your Handwriting Without Tear’s Handwriting Book, complete a page or two today.

IT'S BRAIN BREAK TIME!!
Breathe in, breathe out, and stretch your body to be as tall as the Empire State Building.
Writing
Description of Work:
From your Friendship List, pick out a friend to write a letter to. You can tell them:
What games have you been playing at home?
What books have you been reading?
What is your favorite food you’ve had?
Have you been playing outside?
What are you most excited to do when you get back to school?
Write a different friend each day. Mail it or send them a picture of your letter :)
If you don’t have your Friendship List, choose a family member to write a letter to.
Feel free to print a few pages of the paper you like the most. We will use them all week.
