Ebenezer Elementary School
December 2023
Message from the Principal
Dear Ebenezer Families,
Thank you to the many parents/guardians who attended a parent-teacher conference. Ongoing and meaningful communication between home and school is a key ingredient to student success. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher, learning facilitator, transportation coordinator, principal, or other staff member if you have a question or concern you would like to discuss. Also, consider finding a way to become involved with our PTE. There are numerous opportunities to help from home or at Ebenezer. Our next meeting is January 3rd at 6:30pm.
The annual PTE Holiday Shop will take place during school on December 6th – 8th. Please have your child bring their money envelope to school by Tuesday, December 5th. The donations given for the Feed our Flock project showed firsthand the generosity and compassion of Ebenezer students and families.
As the weather becomes cooler, please remember to have your child wear a coat to school. Students without proper attire will not be let outside for recess. If a family is in need of a coat or other items this winter, please contact myself, Mrs. O’Donnell (modonnell@clsd.k12.pa.us) , or Miss Miller (tmiller@clsd.k12.pa.us). Weather emergencies such as school delays, early dismissals, and the closing of school are possibilities this time of year. Please review your emergency plan for childcare if we have a winter storm as it is important to make sure the school, teacher, and child are aware of any changes to their normal routine.
It is important that parents/guardians keep their information updated in Skyward such as email address, home (landline) phone number, cell phone number, and other contact information. This information is used when phone calls are made home from the office or nurse and when Skyward messages are sent home. If there are any changes to your child’s participation in the YMCA SACC program, please notify the school office and your child’s teacher. Thank you for your help with these important items.
May you enjoy the many blessings of the holiday season! Thank you for your continued support

Creating Holiday Learning Traditions
This holiday season consider adding some new traditions for your family that will make meaningful memories and strengthen foundations for reading and learning success.
Listen, laugh, learn
- Listen to audio books while you're traveling to visit family, wrapping gifts or cooking for the holidays.
- Lyrics to holiday songs are fun to read and sing together. It is also good fun and good collaborative writing practice to make up your own lyrics to familiar tunes.
- Start a story-telling tradition by revisiting holidays of the past. Old family photographs at holiday gatherings will help prompt stories about your own life and family traditions.
Read, relax, respond
- Put reading and writing skills to practical use. Plan holiday meals by reading cookbooks together, writing the shopping lists and finding the needed items at the store by reading signs and labels. Read the recipe and cook together. During the simmering and baking, kids can write and decorate menus or place cards for special holiday meals.
- Set aside time just for reading. Curl up on the couch together and read aloud an old favorite or check out books about another culture's winter celebrations.
- Work on those letters. Improve writing skills with notes or letters to relatives and friends, thanking them for their holiday gifts

A Message From the School Nurse
Dear Parents,
As the weather is getting colder, students will need to wear coats for outside recess. It would also be helpful to send gloves, scarfs, and winter hats with your child to school.
Please return completed physical forms and dental forms to school. Reminders has been sent home if you have not returned either form to the school nurse.
Thank you very much for your help.
