Your Swann news update!

What Our Lions are Learning

EOGs continue this week. Please help us by making sure that your students arrive at school on time well-rested and ready!

If your student was absent for one of their tests or arrived late on their testing day, they will be able to make up the EOG they missed this Wednesday and Thursday. See the calendar below for details.

Be sure to ask your Swann Lion to tell you more about what they are doing in their classes!

Personal Technology and End of Grade Tests

Please remind your students that per state policies, phones, activity trackers, and smart watches are not permitted during testing. Having a smart watch, activity tracker or phone during the tests will result in students having to re-take EOGs.

Enrichment and EOG Re-Administration Week

The week after school gets out, students who passed their classes but did not score proficient on their EOGs may be invited to attend Enrichment and Re-Administration week.

  • Dates: 6/13-6/16
  • Hours: 9:20-4:20
  • Transportation and breakfast and lunch will be provided

If your child is invited, you will receive a letter with instructions on how to register. Keep an eye on your students' back backs!

Summer School

Students who are invited to attend Summer School will be receiving letters this week. Please read this letter carefully for details about summer programs and how you child was selected. If you receive and invitation and wish to attend, please contact the school!

Device Collection

Students should have turned in their chromebooks and chargers last week. Devices not returned will be deactivated. Please encourage your student to look for any devices or chargers they may have at home! If they find any, please bring them to the Core 1 teacher!

No-Cost School Meals

The federal waivers that allowed all schools to serve free breakfast and lunch to all students are ending this summer. To ensure that students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals are able to receive those meals on the first day of school, we are asking parents to fill out the application at www.lunchapplication.com or get a paper form from the front office. This will establish a family’s qualifications for meal discounts for the first 30 days of the 2022-23 school year.

A new application must be completed after July 1 for the remainder of the school year.

GCS Federal Funds Feedback

Each year Guilford County Schools completes an application for Federal funds, including Titles I, II, III, and Title IV funds. Part of the process is stakeholder consultation. The survey pertains to the use of Federal funds to improve schools and student achievement. We would like you to complete the survey so that you have an opportunity to submit input into our Federal application. Please reply by June 3!
