CHS Weekly Update
Week 18: 1-12-2020
It's All Downhill
The longest stretch of the school year is undoubtedly the time from the start until Thanksgiving. Once you get past Winter Break, it's definitely choppier. This week, we have a half day on Friday, the first of 4 (one each month) for 2nd semester. We will follow this up with Martin Luther King Day next Monday and final exams. Matt will be sending out the final exam schedule so that you can share with students. Please make sure that students/parents are aware if students are not going to pass or very close to failing your class.
Other Things on My Mind...
- Thanks to Chrissy, Jessica, and Trisha for helping us to complete English teacher interviews on Friday. We are looking to finalize this position this next week. Filling this position will mean some movement in the building starting in second semester, so any support and flexibility you can provide is appreciated!
- Don't forget to sign up for the tasting this weekend with Brenda and Dee. Tickets are still available for purchase.
- It's almost that time (brace yourselves) to turn in your 504/special ed accommodation logs for semester 1. Please make sure that these are complete and ready to turn by the last day of the semester.
- We have professional development this Friday and will work on examining our data from our first 2 rounds of advisory as a group with the data from the SAT/PSAT where appropriate. We will continue our work on developing questions that match our rigor and skill goals and will feature 4 for our This is My Best. Please make sure to bring the sheet that you received at the staff meeting this past week. Also, as a reminder, we placed everyone who didn't sign up on the This is My Best schedule, please check it out here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lNv9luwMxDbJFK126bFF6NP-seBDhdV2X3m4KRg4e-Q/edit?usp=sharing Please make sure to add your topic. If you're struggling with a topic, stop by and talk to any of the admin and we can work with you to identify areas of strength (we have so many on our staff!).
- We will have Ginni Winters join us at our February and April PD to continue our work with cultural competence. The middle school is starting this work this Friday.
- Have a fantastic week! :)
