Dr. Chris Maples, President of OIT.

Dr. Chris Maples became president of OIT in October 2008 and believes that a large part of his job is to actively work with the staff, students, and alumni of OIT. He received his B.S. degree in geology from State University of West Georgia, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in paleontology and a minor in biology from Indiana University. Dr. Chris Maples also served as visiting faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at Clemson University, Worked for 11 years at the Kansas Geological Survey, was department chair in geological sciences at Indiana University, and was executive vice president for research at DRI prior to his appointment at Oregon Tech.

What Is Software Engineering Technology?

Software Engineering Technology prepares students to design, develop, integrate, and implement computer software. Graduates of the Software Engineering Technology Program will have a thorough understanding of the key principles and practices of applied software engineering, including possessing the ability to identify, analyze, test and solve non-trivial software engineering technical problems.

How Will I Practice What I Need For OIT?

-I can fill out a scholarship form from my county's web page for a chance of getting a scholarship.

-My goals for my last couple years at Grants Pass High School is to apply for more computer technology classes and raise my GPA to a 3.5 or higher.

-I will volunteer to help people with whatever computer work they need help with.
