Happenings At MMJSHS!
From the desk of Christopher Lowe, Principal
Welcome back from what we hope was a fantastic Holiday Break and the first week back at school! Our hallways were buzzing and filled with excitement as students and staff returned from a restful and relaxing holiday break and New Year's celebration!
Since our return last week, we have hit the ground running and are excited about what the new year will bring, finishing the first semester strong, and starting upcoming the new semester off successfully!
As we embark on the switching of semesters, please make sure to check in with your child's teachers and school counselor if you have any questions or concerns. As you will read below, the first semester officially ends on Friday, January 20. The second semester will begin on Monday, January 23.
We have lots of great activities underway already and more starting throughout the month. We cannot wait to see our students participating in all that is taking place! As always, we will be sure to update you via "all-call", social media, and the school website if we have additional information to share with you throughout the month.
We thank you for your continued partnership and support and are looking forward to what amazing opportunities 2023 will bring to our school community!
Regards,
Chris Lowe

HSSIEP (High School Senior Internship Education Project) Returns for Semester 2!!
We are thrilled to be partnering with MassHire for the third year by offering our Seniors the High School Senior Internship Education Project (HSSIEP).
HSSIEP provides work-based learning experiences in the field of education to highly motivated high school seniors in good academic standing, while supporting their school and community-based partners.
A special thank you to both the Shaw and Elmwood schools for hosting our interested seniors! If your child is interested in this opportunity, please have them reach out to their counselor as available space is limited!
Carpenters Union Pre-Apprenticeship Program Begins for our first cohort!
Simultaneously, we will have our second cohort of students attending the Shop Friday series beginning in February. This will prepare the second cohort to begin the pre-apprenticeship program at the start of the next school year.
We will also be preparing tours for our Junior Woolies to expose them to the programming in case they are interested in pursuing carpentry as a profession post-graduation!
Words cannot express how excited we are about how the program has been shaping up! We will continue to share updates along the way!
