ASASP Union Times

August 9, 2023 Edition XXVI

Good Afternoon All,

Due to the persistent advocacy of ASASP, support from our Executive Board and PGCPS, we were able to ensure that ASASP twelve-month employees that were being excluded will now be compensated for CPD trainings.

In some cases, unit members will be able to serve as the instructor for these specific training sessions if they qualify.

As ASASP moves forward, we will continue to explore and identify other possible compensatory opportunities for all units of our membership. We are here to serve all units and all members any way that we can.

Warm Regards,

What Should We Say To President Biden? Tell us what you think!!

Local 109 - ASASP Needs You - "To Complete This Survey."

ASASP Members,

We're asking you to take and to encourage your fellow members to participate in a national survey that our national affiliate, the American Federation of School Administrators is conducting.

As you may know, the AFSA team is engaged in a series of meetings with the White House to ensure that school leaders’ voices are heard by the Biden administration. The results of this survey will provide the AFSA team with critical data and help inform their conversations with the Biden administration moving forward. AFSA shared the survey with members last week, and now we need you to directly encourage your members to take the survey to ensure that your local’s voice is heard and that the issues that your members care about reach national leadership.

To facilitate this process, we have included a message to send to your members encouraging them to take the survey, which you may use or alter. The message is below:

Dear members of the Assoc of Supervisory & Adm. School Pers. of PG Cty, MD, ASASP,

Our national affiliate, the American Federation of School Administrators (AFSA), is conducting a national survey to inform their work with the Biden administration. Please take a few minutes to complete the AFSA School Leader Survey that was distributed to all members last week. Survey responses are anonymous.

AFSA’s team is working closely with the White House on education issues, and they need to hear your voices so they can amplify them to our nation’s highest leaders. Take the survey now so that your union leaders can understand your experience as an administrator and learn what issues matter to you the most.

Ben Pryor, President ASASP
