Financial Assistance/Asistencia Financiera
We know that this post-COVID world can be financially trying for families and never want a student to not participate or eat due to financial constraints. If you are having financial difficulties and need assistance with uniform supplies or meals (not fees), please know that you can contact your JHS Boosters for hardship assistance via Carmen Sifuentes at vp@johnsonbands.com.
If you need to make payment arrangements or financial assistance regarding fees, please contact Mr. Lucita at Joey.Lucita@hayscisd.net
--------------------
Lucita@hayscisd.net

Quotes for a Cause
George Torres Farmers Insurance has partnered with to provide a unique opportunity to
raise money to support the JHS Band by requesting your free, no-obligation insurance quote! The goal is to raise money for the band and to give families peace of mind that they are paying a reasonable amount when it comes to insurance. His agency specializes in reducing student driver cost on family auto insurance. His agency will donate $10 to the JHS Band for each family that completes the attached quick survey. Your information will solely be utilized for a one-time, no-obligation quote and will be deleted once completed. There is no cap on how many families can participate in this opportunity but you must be over 18 years of age to receive a quote. Less than 1 minute to complete the survey could add up to an immeasurable amount of support for JHS Band. Plus, you might even save a lot on your insurance! Act quickly and share - the survey and this opportunity will only last through the Jaguar Jog on September 17th!

Section GroupMe
Have you joined your section's GroupMe group yet? If not, email Carmen Sifuentes at vp@johnsonbands.com and she will get you connected to the right person.
What is GroupMe?
GroupMe is a two-way communication app (can also be accessed on the GroupMe website on a computer). Each section has a Parent Section Lead. These PSL's each host their section's GroupMe. Your Section GroupMe is a great place to ask questions to other parents. If your PSL does not know the answer, they will check with a Board Member and get the information you need, or point you in the right direction. The Band Boosters also share important information over GroupMe that might not be emailed or shared on FB (like reminders).
Senior Parking Lot Closed for Painting

From the director
What a great week we just finished!! It was a great week, with a ton of progress towards our show: “Against All Odds”! Let’s do a quick recap before we get into this coming week!
We had a great week continuing our music rehearsals and master classes! This week was the week that we could start learning drill and that’s exactly what we did!! The kids are doing a great job, they are learning quickly and moving forward at a great pace! More drill to come this week!
We also wrapped up the week with an epic water balloon fight on Friday evening!! There was no official winner but rather a ton of kids having a blast!!!! It was a great way to end a week of hard work!!!
Saturday was the Jaguar Jamboree, and our Jag Band and Color Guard put on a great performance!! A huge shout out to Micah P. for emceeing the event and giving a great introduction of our guard letting everyone know we have not only a state champion guard program but also one of the best in the nation!
Let’s take a look at this coming week!! This week we will continue to move forward learning drill, music and movement with all of our students! Please pay close attention to the calendar for this week. Tuesday the 9th is a delayed start. The meal plan lunch will be served at 12:00 and the remainder of the day will follow our normal rehearsal schedule! Thursday evening is a big date to keep an eye on this week!! We have offered the students an incentive for this week! If we can get all of our wind (woodwinds and brass) students to play off their music by Wednesday we will reward their hard work with an evening off on Thursday -- ending practice at 4pm! Parents, you are welcome to pop in the Band Hall when you pick up your student and check out the playoff wall and see where your child is in the playoff process! All the encouragement they can receive towards reaching their music goals will benefit them and the band as a whole! Getting Thursday evening off also provides them with the opportunity to go and watch “Big, Loud and Live” which includes the top 17 Drum and Bugle Corps performing as we approach the World Championships!! Here is a link to purchase tickets: https://www.fandango.com/dci-2022-big-loud-and-live-227569/movie-overview
We will be pushing out introductions to our private lesson staff, and we highly encourage all students to get enrolled in lessons! There is nothing that beats getting that one-to-one analysis and instruction from a professional on their specific instrument!! I believe our band staff are all incredible teachers; however, considering the numbers in each band class and the limited amount of instructional time available during the class, having students participate in lessons is an invaluable investment!! Please be on the lookout for these introductions! There will be a page on the JHS Band Webpage that will guide you toward instructions and registration links!
We are almost to the half-way point of reaching our fundraiser goal!! Let’s continue to repost, retweet and redouble our efforts to get our fundraiser to reach as many people and potential donors as possible!! We are sooooo close! Let’s make sure we reach our goal!!
This is our last week of summer band so let’s make it AWESOME!!! As we always say “It’s A Great Day To Be A Jaguar”!
" If we can get all of our wind (woodwinds and brass) students to play off their music by Wednesday, we will reward their hard work with an evening off on Thursday." - Mr. Lucita
