"Once A Brave, Always A Brave"
#BeTheLight and join the movement across the Nation in celebrating the Class of 2020 Graduates. In recognition of this year’s Senior Class, all HCS high schools will turn on their stadium lights on 5.1.2020 at (20:20 military time) 8:20 p.m. for 20 minutes to honor our seniors for their academics, athletics, and fine arts, in addition to observing the contributions of the nation’s essential workers.
We would also like to encourage our communities to support this event by turning on their porch lights at the same time.

If you need assistance, please reach out to your teachers, counselors, or administrators. We will assist however we can. We will continue to offer Friday device and hard copies of work pick up days for the remainder of the school year. We are Socastee Strong!

- I would like to thank our teachers for all they do for the students of SHS.
- Senior Supply Distribution went very well Monday, 4/27/20

Please call the school at 843-293-2513 and leave a message if you would like to set up an appointment. This will be by appointment only so we can keep the numbers low. ADOPT-A-Brave
We are so touched by the overwhelming response from Brave Nation and our Community to want to show love and support to our Class of 2020. This has been such a discouraging time for them. No one wants to end their senior year like our Senior Braves are having to do.
We are giving the option to our community to adopt a member of our Senior Class. The way we will proceed with this is slightly different from how you have probably seen it on social media. Our Seniors will complete a form that we provide to them, to give us a list of their favorite things and a little about themselves. Prospective adopters will be able to contact us and let us know if they are willing to adopt. We will then issue them the information on a randomly selected senior, to protect the privacy of our students this information will
be non identifying.
For example the adopter will receive Brave #249 with a list of their favorites. The adopter can then choose to purchase what they would like to provide to their Brave and send it to Brave #249
c/o SHS
4900 Socastee Blvd
Myrtle Beach SC 29588.
Or an adopter can choose to send a monetary donation to SHS for their Brave through My Payments Plus under our “Adopt-A-Brave” payment option. We will then use that donation to provide a gift for their Brave.
We will have a distribution day and time for all of our Seniors where they will receive their gifts along with other senior items.
We want all 374 of our Seniors to feel the encouragement and support from their community, family and friends. We hope that Brave Nation will show our seniors why everyday (even in quarantine) is a GREAT day to be Brave and participate in this process. To Adopt-A-Brave please contact

Information for future Horry Georgetown Technical College Students
I hope you all had a wonderful spring break. I wanted to give you a couple of quick updates regarding what we are doing to help prospective high school students who are considering enrolling at HGTC.
- Gator Chats- Any prospective student is now able to go online and register for an HGTC “Gator Chat”. This is a one on one opportunity to Skype with an admissions representative regarding the enrollment process, different programs of study, information on student life, financial aid, etc. Each session lasts thirty minutes but can be extended as needed, and students can register at this link: https://hgtc.elluciancrmrecruit.com/Apply/Events or by clicking the “Visit Campus” button on our main website. This is geared towards students who have not yet submitted an application—if you have students who just want to check their admissions status please have them email Admissions@hgtc.edu.
- Waiving application fees- Our application is still currently free for all students to apply with no code needed. This is schedule to last until the end of April, but if you need a waiver code for a particular student after that date please just contact me directly.
- HGTC Admissions Sway- For students who are just looking for more information and don’t necessarily want to schedule a chat, please share this Sway presentation with up to date information on enrolling:
