Chew On This
Eric Schlosser & Charles Wilson
Summary/Powerful Part
Fast food: food that can be prepared quickly and easily and is sold in restaurants and snack bars as a quick meal or to be taken out. "Chew On This" is a book talking about fast food. Why would someone want to read about that? Honestly, I don't know, but the book has many interesting facts about fries, hamburgers, how much money is spent per year at places like McDonald's or Wendy's that could really grab you by surprise, and much more. There's not very many powerful parts, but a fact that grabbed my attention was "If you took the 13 billion hamburgers that Americans eat every year and put them in a straight line, they could circle the earth more than thirty-two times." This fact really stood out to me and grabbed my attention because I would never have guessed that there were so many hamburgers eaten per year, let alone that they could circle the earth more than thirty-two times.
