Meeting Agenda
Objective: Grade level teachers should review the social studies practices for their grade level, which align to the C3 Social Studies Framework and Goal 6 Social Studies Skills.

The session is structured to reflect the inquiry model of the C3 Framework.
Connect the Dots
Materials: 11'x18' computer paper OR poster paper, markers
Directions:
- Sit with 3-4 members of the department.
- You will have 3 minutes to mind map the connection between these three terms:
Reading, Speaking/Writing, Social Studies Content
- You are allowed to write and/or draw any connections that you see between the terms. There is no right or wrong way to express your knowledge!
- At the end of 3-4 minutes, we will share our completed mind maps with the rest of the department.

We will share their responses from the Disciplinary Literacy Planning Document. Teachers will share and/or model exemplar lesson seeds aligned to best practices.

Summative Task
- What concrete steps can we take to align the social studies practices at our specific grade levels to the C3 Social Studies Framework and Goal 6 Social Studies Skills? We will reflect in a discussion as a whole group.
- Submit your Planning Document to your department chair to share with Kevin.
Stay tuned for a follow-up discussion at our next department meeting. We will share additional disciplinary literacy items that we've been working on AND/OR w will share data from the tasks to discuss implications for future instruction.
Taking Informed Action
Teachers will continue to develop instruction aligned to the expectations of the C3 Social Studies Framework and Goal 6 Social Studies Skills. Follow-up discussions will occur at upcoming department meetings.
