Growth Mindset:
This is the time of year when counselors hear the following question: My student seems to be struggling in a particular class, what should we do? There has been several recent studies that have gathered evidence that suggests that mindset, grit and perseverance can be as important, if not more important, as intellectual ability for success. Teaching our students how their brain works is a key component of student growth. Below are a few resources on this topic:

The Preliminary SAT (PSAT/NMSQT) is on Wednesday, October 11, 2017
On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will take the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) at Zionsville Community High School. Room assignments will be sent out through the grade level course in Canvas. The PSAT/NMSQT is a standardized test that provides practice for the SAT and provides the following advantages to students:
The PSAT/NMSQT measures the reading, math, and writing skills needed for college (and for success in most jobs and careers in today’s world). PSAT/NMSQT results are designed to uncover opportunities for growth and provide targeted feedback aimed at improving skills. For more information click here.
Juniors have the opportunity to compete for recognition and scholarships through the National Merit® Scholarship Program.
The PSAT/NMSQT provides valuable information to parents and students on student potential for advanced academics in high school.
