Your News For What's Happening in Room 404! - April 27
Reading News
This week begins a fun project for our fourth graders. In Social Studies, our students will begin the process of researching their famous Texan. This process will continue during reading workshop where the students will learn how to research using print, on-line and other sources. Focus questions during the research process will be: How do we know the information found is factual? Which sources are best trusted for research? How can we narrow down our results to produce the quality piece for sharing with others? These questions and many other skills will be our focus as we dive deeply into this research process. The students will eventually produce a written biography of their famous Texan. From this biography, the students will write an effective paragraph highlighting the most important information to be shared with their audience during the Living Statues Museum to be held May 19.
Writing News
Reading and Writing will be combined during the next few weeks as we take on the research process. Students will be recording facts which will be added to the biography they are writing about their famous Texan.
We will also explore the genre of poetry as students write different types of poems. This study of poetry will continue through the remainder of the year.
