From the Principal...Kristy McKnight

We had a wonderful afternoon with our winter celebrations! Thank you to all of the families who donated supplies for the students to enjoy. It seems so strange that we are already breaking for the end of 2021. Not that I won't enjoy a little downtime, I just can't believe how quickly the time has gone. I am so proud of the work that all of our students and staff have done this year and I hope that everyone gets the chance to smile, laugh, rest, and enjoy the last couple weeks of the year!

As a reminder, we are on Winter Break from Monday, December 20th - Friday, December 31st. Then, Monday, January 3rd is a School Improvement Day, meaning a non-attendance day for students. Classes resume on Tuesday, January 4th.

Happy New Year!

It is recommended that you remove for child from Shield testing if they are fully vaccinated. In order to complete this, you need to visit the district website and click Shield Testing Registration, scroll down to the second page, click the link and uncheck your consent for Shield testing. The nurse is unable to enroll you.

Empower

During the end of November and the month of December, students in Empower will be experiencing new modules! The fifth graders will get an introduction to World Languages with our FLEX module, and our K-4 students will address a need in their community with our Make a Difference Module.

E-LEARNING PLAN AND EMERGENCY DAYS

The School Board has approved an E-Learning plan that gives the district the option to offer remote learning in place of emergency days. Currently, our last day of school is Tuesday, May 24, which is the week before Memorial Day. As we move into the winter months, we want to update you on the plan for how the district will manage emergency days and e-learning days.

  • If we experience inclement weather, the first three days will be “snow days” that will be made up at the end of the school year on May 25, 26, and 27 as needed.

  • Subsequent emergency days will be remote days so the last attendance day will still be before Memorial Day.

  • If there is a long stretch of inclement weather (blizzard, polar vortex, etc.), we may split the days into “snow days” and e-learning days so as to not have too many non-attendance days in a row.
