ROM
ROM stands for Read Only Memory
ROM and RAM
A ROM chip is where all the memory on your computer is saved. Once it is on the chip it cannot be deleted, only read, hence it's name. ROM will keep all the data on your computer even when it's turned off, however thisi s only data which has been preloaded onto the chip like the programs you need to start your computer. This is how it's different to RAM - the main memory on the computer. RAM stores things like documents and pictures and music but these things can be deleted and if not saved correctly will deleted once the computer is turned off. ROM's are very important for making your computer start and RAM's after very important for saving the data on the computer.
