SYRIA
Syria's Geographical Features
Borders: Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea are to the west of Syria. Turkey is to the north. Iraq is to the east. Jordan is to the south, and Israel is to the southwest of Syria. They have a hot and also dry climate. The land mainly consists of plateaus and also contains large amounts of Oil in the ground in northeast Syria.
Syria's Background
Syria became a republic in September of 1936. This came after the Kingdom of Syria was formed in 1920 and was occupied by the French people. Twenty years later, in 1956, Syria became an ally to the Soviet Union. This helped spread communism throughout the world. In 1973, the Syrians declared war on Israel.
