Congratulations to 4th/5th Grade Students who made Honor Roll for the 2nd Quarter. Students earn Honor Roll by receiving all A's and B's in the Math/Reading. Be sure to check out the paper soon for your name. I also recognized students in 4th/5th grade who were able to improve a grade in Math and/or Reading. Thank you for all your hard work! Keep it up the hard work!

Literacy Tip of the MonthReading Focus: Phonemic Awareness | Grade: K/1, 2/3
Hands on learning for Phonemic Awareness! Try making a collage of items that start with the same sound using pictures from magazines or the internet. Puppets can be another fun way to work on these skills. Make one that likes to munch on words that start with a certain sound. Let your child have fun “feeding” his puppet different objects or pictures that start with that sound. Reading Focus: Phonics | Grade: 3/5
Here are some specific decoding skills your child will work your 3rd- 5th grader can work on! Decoding is being able to use patterns to figure out new words and decipher their separate sounds. Putting together compound words from greatschools.org -a snake with a rattle is a rattlesnake -cheese with cake is cheesecake -fire with works is fireworks -moon with light is moonlight See how many you can come up with!
