A Note from Kimberly
Happy New Year! Welcome Back!
I'm sure you have hit the ground running like I have! I do hope you all enjoyed your holiday break. I enjoyed my time immensely! My husband's family always gathers at his parents over the holidays for an extended time. We had lots of cousin sleep overs at our house, lots of giggles and fun times.
It's taken me a few days to re-focus on what's ahead these next few months, but I'm ready and I hope you are, too!
I wanted to quickly share what's coming up here at ESC-20 in ways to support you and your Family Engagement work.
Check out the upcoming professional trainings and what's being offered for parents/families.

Family Engagement is not just about inviting families to attend events on your campus, but when you do plan events on your campus, how are they linked to student learning?

MUDDLED: How Confusing Information from Schools is Failing American Families
"The entire process of communicating the progress of individual students to their families is a mess."
"In the course of our work, we have observed that the entire process of communicating the progress of individual students to their families is a mess. Parents have access to more information about students than ever, and yet the avalanche of data has become its own problem. They get lost in difficult-to-interpret report cards and test results, and spun around by overly positive messages from educators about how well students are doing. This incoherence makes it easy for families to overestimate the performance of their children, miss warning signs of major problems, and pass up learning opportunities that have the power to reshape a child’s basic educational trajectory."
