ISD 709 School News
Gautam Mereddy earned perfect scores on the ACT and SAT college entrance exams. He takes AP and College In the Schools courses at Duluth East, is a member of the school's National Honor Society and is a recipient of the AP Scholar Award and Duluth East Academic Letter Award. Gautam's school activities include Math Team, Tutor, STEM Club and Knowledge Bowl. He plays guitar and is a Judo: Brown Belt through the Duluth Judo Club.
Denfeld, Duluth East Students Learn a Career Building Habitat Project
Denfeld & Duluth East Construction Technology students are working with students from Lake Superior College to build a home for Habitat for Humanity. The high school students are taking construction courses through ISD 709's Career & Technical Education program.

Great video featuring CJ Ham, graduate of Denfeld High School, Augustana College and now starting fullback for the Minnesota Vikings.
Duluth East, Denfeld Musicians Featured on Christmas by the Lake CD
Featuring traditional holiday favorites as well as exceptional original tunes written by the performers. School groups from Denfeld, Duluth East, Hermantown and Northwestern High School all contributed to the CD as well as regional professional musicians Laura Velvet and the Bookhouse Boys, Lake City Smokin’ Section and many others. This year’s 2-CD set features a remake of the legendary Merv Griffen song “Christmas City” arranged and performed by Laura Velvet and the Bookhouse Boys and the winner of the Bentleyville song contest Tim Jacobson performing “Turn On the Lights.” Dane Schmidt, Kim Olson and Will Caesar, three native Duluthians who have gone on to acclaim in the national recording industry, have also contributed music.
