Principal's Message
Dear Hoover families,
A Great Husky thank you for attending conferences last week! I was able to attend a few of them and they went well! Thanks again students, parents and teachers for supporting the school as we continue to move forward. Research shows that when there is a strong partnership between parents, teachers and the school in general, children's work habits, attitudes about school and grades improve, so THANKS! Hoover Team!
The week of March 21-25
The school will be returning to regular schedule, with the exception of the following two days: THURSDAY MARCH 24TH AND FRIDAY MARCH 25TH will both be minimum days. Both those days will be dismissed with the Thursday schedule. Please make a note of it and make sure that you collect your children on time.
REMINDER THAT BEGINNING MARCH 14TH, MASKS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY NOT REQUIRED
As of Monday, March 14th, 2022, and according to the new health guidance given by the State of California, the Redwood City School District moved from "requiring" masks for students and employees, to "strongly recommending" that masks be used in school settings. This is now the protocol that we are following based on this mandate from the State.
in order to continue to create a healthy and safe environment on campus, our school will continue to offer Covid testing weekly and will follow Covid protocols in case of infection/s. We also ask you to be vigilant and keep you child at home if he/she happens to be symptomatic. We need to respect everyone's decision, without social stigma or judgement. This poster helps support that message
I am anticipating that upon returning from Spring Break, daily wellness check may no longer be required for students, I am also anticipating that parents may be able to walk into campus to drop off and collect your child. Please continue to be respectful to our neighbors, park only in designated areas, and pls do not park in the staff parking lot on Stambaugh. If you do need to have parking space pls use the parking lot behind the gym.
I-Health at Home COVID Testing
Covid testing kits will be sent home this Thursday March 24th. Pls make sure that you test your kid/s on April 3rd, at the latest, prior to returning to school on April 4th. Click here for instructions on how to administer the test

Dress Code:
We have seen an increase in the number of student who are not adhering to the dress code. HOOVER HAS A DRESS CODE that all students must abide by. We've worked diligently to obtain school uniforms for all students on campus and the family center is working hard to distribute them almost on a daily basis. PLEASE HELP US BY ENSURING THAT YOUR CHILD ABIDES BY THE DRESS CODE, and if your child needs to get an uniform, pls come to the Family Center to get them.
Research has found that school dress codes allow students to concentrate on educational activities, they also make it easier for students to get ready for school every day, limit the distractions that may arise in the classroom, and help school administrators easily spot trespassers. In addition, a DRESS CODE creates a great sense that we all belong to the same team, THE HOOVER TEAM! A reminder that the DRESS CODE adopted by the Hoover, was voted on by the School Site Council which is comprised y teachers, parents and staff, and they all thought that it would be great help to maintain a safe school environment. I know we all love to have a safe school environment, so please help us out!

Unacceptable: The following items are not permitted to be worn at any time at school: bandanas of any color, hair nets, make-up, sleeveless blouses, low-cut tops or short tops that show midriff, baggy pants, pants worn below the waistline, miniskirts, baggy shirts, chains, pagers, laser pointers, any gang related paraphernalia, sweat pants and leggings.
Denim pants and blue jeans may not be worn as part of the uniform.
On designated “free dress” days, regular standards for appropriate school clothing will apply, except that jeans may be worn. NO EXCESSIVE RIPPED JEANS will be accepted as part of the dress code.
5th graders will go to Outdoor Ed This year! this is super exciting!
Our 5th grade students will be attending Outdoor Ed at the YMCA Jones Gulch Camp, near La Honda. Outdoor Ed dates will be May 9th-13th. This extended field trip will be most memorable for all attendees as student not only get to make new friends, and learn to become independent, but they also get to experience nature in a whole new way. The outdoor education naturalists provide a safe, engaging atmosphere where all students thrive! ELPAC ASSESSMENTS CONTINUE AT HOOVER
(ELPAC-English Language Proficiency Assessment for California) is a mandated state test that is used to determine English language proficiency (ELP). The assessments is given every year to students whose primary language is one other than English.
