Congratulations families we have successfully made it through the first 9 weeks of school! It's hard to believe that it's already November. Report cards were sent home Friday Oct. 30th and are available on FOCUS. Our first ever virtual Parent Conference night is scheduled for Thursday, November 12th, 5:30-7:00 pm. Your child's teacher will send you a Zoom link and time to "meet". If you have not heard from your child's teacher and wish to conference, please contact them now.
Teachers will be sending home a letter with students about how you can help your child with math at home. Math is everywhere, and you can embed number sense strategies into every day activities. Check out the letter for ideas and more information! If you have any questions, please email the Math Coach, Mrs. Droll at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Families with students in the ESOL program, there is a parent meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 5th at 5:30 pm. Please open the below pdf file for more information.
An important reminder from the Car Loop Crew: At afternoon pick-up, please place your car in park while in front of the school aka student loading area.This is required for the safety of the students and staff.
Title I School Talk
The Parent and Family Engagement Plan has been approved by the Office of Title 1. This plan is available on our school website under the parent section in the Title 1 folder. The plan is also available in the Parent Binder located in the front office. Translation services and copies are available upon request. Please submit a request for translation services or a copy of the Parent and Family Engagement Plan to the front office.
Families, we want to thank you for your input in creating our 2020-2021 School-Parent-Student Compact. This document will be our guide for working together to be successful this school year. Please take a moment to look at it (linked below) and discuss it with your child as well as your child's teacher should you have questions. If your student is brick and mortar a copy went home on October 27th. Elearning families, a copy was provided for you when you picked up supplies the week of Oct 26. We appreciate your investment in your child's education!
Parents' Right to Know- each parent of a student at Dr. W. J. Creel Elementary School has the right to request information about the professional qualifications of the student's teacher(s). This information will be provided upon request.

Grade Level Announcements
PreK students have enjoyed all things pumpkin and learning about Autumn.
Kindergarten students successfully completed the iReady diagnostic assessment. Their teachers are very proud of how well they were able to use the computers and software. Great job Kindergarten! The Scarecrow parade was just as adorable as years' past. Thank you lil' scarecrows for brightening up the school day.
First Grade enjoyed reading From Seed to Pumpkin and learning all about a pumpkin's life-cycle.
Second grade finished their Science unit on life cycles last week. We grew green beans and made a butterfly life cycle.In reading/language arts we have been working on standard LAFS.2.RL.2.6.-(Acknowledge the difference between point of view of characters.) In Diary of a Spider we learned about life from spiders point of view. Students wrote about their favorite day from Spider’s diary.
Sixth grade will be having a Virtual Kennedy Space Center Field Trip on Thursday, November 5th all day! We will be working with hands-on centers throughout the day. E Learning students are welcome!
