Lago Vista Middle School
Excellence In All We Do 9/4/20
Big Changes Coming...
This week had a frantic feel for us, as we were getting ready for face to face instruction and trying to answer an endless amount of questions. But at the end of the day, we are incredibly excited to have students back in school, and I firmly believe this is an important first step. Yes, there are safety precautions we need to take, and not everyone is back with us, but for the first time since March, we will have students in the building. And we can't wait!
So...what does next week look like??
Monday and Tuesday are student holidays. I will send a video out on Tuesday going over the procedures for face to face instruction.
Wednesday, September 9th will still be remote learning for all students, and it will be a B day.
Thursday, September 10th will be face to face instruction(or remote instruction), and it will be an A day.
Make sure your students are checking the morning announcements everyday - if they haven't been, they can be found on this Google Classroom: 6dq3rwh
One thing that we have been telling the students to get in the habit of checking their email 3 times a day; first thing in the morning, after their second class, and one more time after their last class. However, one thing that we've learned is that email can be very overwhelming to students getting notifications from Google Classroom. We have students with 300 or 400 emails notifying them of every comment, every new assignment, every post...it's just too much. What we recommend is turning off your classroom notifications to help keep the email inbox managable.
Thank you for all of your support!

Bell Schedule
Doors will open at 7:30 - students temperature will be taken before they exit the vehicle. If a student has a high temperature reading, the school nurse can take a second reading in 15 minutes if requested. The parent and student may drive to the front of the school to wait, but may not leave school property if they are waiting for a second temperature check.
We will send out a more detailed video about drop off/pick up and other school procedures on Tuesday.
What Day Is It?
Help Keep Us Playing!
- Spectators, audiences, fans and media are required to wear face coverings as described in Executive Order GA-29.
- Groups should maintain at least six feet of distance from other groups at all times, including the process of admission and seating. A group is defined as no more than 10 people including the members of the household and those persons who traveled together to the facility.
UIL is very serious about these guidelines, and if we want to continue to play sports this year, we must take these to heart. Photos from different schools not following this guidance have already been circulating, which puts all of our programs at risk.
Please make sure to wear a mask at all times and respect social distancing.
Volleyball Games
1) Players will be given vouchers to give to their families for tickets. If you do not have a voucher, you will not be able to attend the game.
2) Exact change for tickets is requested, if possible. Tickets are $3 dollars for adults, $2 for children.
3) A games will be played in the Upper Gym, B games will be played in the Lower Gym. Spectators are asked to leave the gym after their child plays so that we can maintain social distancing.
4) Masks will be required.
For football, all LVMS games will be played at the high school so that we can maintain social distancing.
