• A change is needed to balance class sizes.
• Students scheduled in a course for which they already has already passed.
• Student is enrolled in a course for which the student does not have the prerequisite.
• Student has an incomplete schedule.
• Students enrolled/not enrolled in an application/audition course for which they were approved.
• Student has failed a course and needs to repeat the course.
• Change is needed as a result of a passed course earned in summer school.
Exit Guidelines for Honors Courses
To exit an Honors course, parent contact must occur and the student must confer with the counselor and principal or principal’s designee.
- Exit Window will open after the first 3 weeks IPR and close at the end of the 6th week of school. The last five days of the first semester through the first week of the spring semester.
- A student that exits out of a Honors course will retain this grade in the new course. If a student exits with a grade below 70 in the original course, this may impact their UIL eligibility.
- Exiting an Honors course prior to the end of a semester will result in loss of weighted credit for high school courses.

Here you will find a great video which explains the district’s Meal Sense program and shows you how to apply for the free and reduced-price program.
All Northwest ISD students in elementary and middle school will continue receive free breakfast and lunch meals during the 2021-2022 school year! While students in high school will not take part in the same program, they can continue to apply for free or reduced-price meals.
Though meals are free to all elementary and middle school students, we strongly encourage families to continue to apply for the free and reduced-price meal program, as there are further benefits that can help reduce financial hardship. An accurate count of students in need also helps provide the appropriate programs at schools. Anyone who previously applied for the free or reduced-price meal program or believes they may now qualify based on their financial circumstances should still apply. This will also ensure these students receive free or reduced-cost meals for at least the first 30 days of the 2022-2023 school year.
Please click the button below for an English or Spanish letter about applying for free or reduced-cost meals.
