SPELLING BEE
The Keith 2021 Spelling Bee is in person this year and open to all 3rd-5th grade students!
Important dates:
Monday-Friday, October 25-29th: Students have been picking up their grade-level spelling lists in Room 150. Announcements were made each morning to remind students.
Wednesday, November 17th: Qualifying test during grade-level recess times in Room 150.
Friday, November 19th: Students that qualify will receive an official letter of qualification for the Keith Spelling Bee and a cumulative Spelling List packet to study for the Keith Spelling Bee.
Keith Elementary Spelling Bee: Monday, December 13th promptly @ 9:00 am in the Keith Cafeteria: Please arrive at 8:45 am to scan your driver’s license to receive access into the cafeteria if you plan on watching your child participate in the Keith Spelling Bee.
Cy-Fair ISD District Spelling Bee: More information will be released as the date approaches for our Keith Spelling Bee Champion and Runner-Up.

Student ID Badge Information
Dear Parent,
Student ID badges are provided by the district and used by all students for utilizing transportation services, making meal purchases, checking out library/textbooks, and identification of students in common areas. If the ID badge is lost or damaged it must be promptly replaced. For ID badges that are lost or damaged due to the student’s mishandling or negligence, there is a replacement fee.
There are different costs depending on what your child needs.
- Badge $3.00
- Lanyard $1.00
- Plastic sleeve $1.00
If all of the above needs to be replaced, the total will be $5.00. If your student has their badge all year, there is no need to purchase these items. If you do need a replacement of any or all the items, you can find the order form through the SchoolCash system. It is attached to your student's account so you can utilize if needed.
If you do buy a replacement, please email your receipt to catherine.slusher@cfisd.net or send a hard copy with your student to give to their teacher.

Kids Heart Challenge

Birthday Marquee Information
Credit by Exam
Students in grades K-5 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level. Students will only have one opportunity to test for each grade level considered.
To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered in a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.
Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam will qualify to advance one grade. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. No retests will be given.

Da Vinci Day
We are excited that Da Vinci Day is back in person this year! The event is a face-to-face field trip opportunity for our HORIZONS students to gather and participate in activities designed to challenge and engage them. It is scheduled for February 19, 2022 at Cypress Ranch HS. The window for registration is November 6-17 and is open to students in grades 1-8. Be watching for an informational flier to sign up for Da Vinci Day!
Gifted and Talented Information
Parents,
If you would like to have your student tested for the GT program, please ask your child’s teacher for a parent permission form. All GT parent permission forms for testing are due by Friday, November 19th, no exceptions. If the deadline is missed, your child will have to wait until the next school year to be tested. GT testing will take place early in Spring 2022.
NEW for this year – ALL Kindergarten students will be GT screened in Spring 2022. Parents do not need to request GT parent permission forms to nominate Kindergarten students.
