Save the Date - Field Day!
Tuesday, Jun 6, 2017, 10:00 AM
Ixonia Elementary School, Ixonia, WI, United States
Field Day Volunteers Needed!
Ixonia's field day tradition is not possible without parent volunteers! Please consider taking a few hours out of your day June 6 to help make this a really fun day for the kids. Signing up to volunteer is easy, simply return the half sheet you received, stating what type of volunteering you'd be willing to do. All sheets are due to your child's teacher next week. Thank you!
Conceding the Vote!
It was a good fight, Ixonia, but at this point it looks like it may be impossible for us to catch up with the other contenders in Colgate and Meijer's contest to win free playground equipment.
Every vote already placed is appreciated - but at this point we are conceding this contest!
We wish the other participants the best of luck!
Visitor Policy
For your child's safety - parents must now provide to the school, permission for personal visitors to come spend time with their child. This means a note, email or phone call to the office, before we will allow personal visitors in to see your student - UNLESS, that visitor is on your student's emergency contact list.
Emergency contact lists can easily be edited during the online registration process.
If a personal visitor (like a family member or friend) should show up without previous permission, we will attempt to contact a parent or guardian for consent. Please call the school office at 560-8405 if you have any questions. Thank you!
FlIp Flops - Not at School Please
Flip flops also make terrible footwear for students trying to participate in gym class. Please make sure your child is wearing tennis shoes or at least has some here at school to wear to P.E.
Library Book Check-Out Deadline
Any overdue notices were sent out on Friday. All books are due at the beginning of June. Thank you!
2017-18 Staffing Changes
What a wonderful school year it has been. And as each year comes to a close, there are always shifts in a building/district based on new opportunities and professional interests. We wish the following staff members all the best as they move on to new opportunities next year -- some within our building, some elsewhere. Each staff member has helped us grow over this past year and we thank them!
Marcy Theisen, Ixonia 4th grade teacher, has chosen to take a one-year leave to stay home with her children.
Jim Mueller, one of our current learning strategists with 18 years of regular education teaching experience, will fill the 4th grade leave for one year. Being licensed as both a regular and special education teacher, he will serve in both roles in the 4th grade. Tracy Cavanna will continue as his teammate as a learning strategist for students in grades 4K-3.
Misty Burton, Ixonia 4th grade teacher, is taking advantage of the 3rd section of kindergarten that is being added and moving to join Mrs. Laufenberg and Mrs. Berg.
Rebecca Reichhart, Ixonia’s literacy coach, has wanted to return to a classroom teacher position. She will be moving to 4th grade. In her place, we have hired a literacy coach, Katie Lindner, with extensive experience in the areas of Readers & Writers Workshop.
Christine Streno, a paraprofessional who works in 4th grade, will be moving up to Nature Hill Intermediate.
Linda Kowalewski, one of our art teachers, will be retiring. We have hired Kristin Bunker to replace her, who has 7 years teaching experience. We wish Linda all the best in her retirement!
Thanks to our interventionists, Dawn Turner (math) and Lindsay Burke (reading) for their hard work this past year. Both will be moving onto other opportunities next year. These positions plus an additional reading interventions will be replaced over the summer.
Lost and Found
All items remaining in the lost and found on the last day of school will be donated.
Yearbooks
Ixonia students who ordered a yearbook will receive their book the final week of school. We had a lot of interest in this year's edition and hope all will enjoy it and the memories it will bring for years to come.
If you did not order a yearbook, but would still like one, please contact the school office at 560-8405. A very limited number of extra books are here and can be purchased on a first come, first served basis.
Once you notify the office that you'd like a yearbook, an $11 fee will be added to your child's family access account.
Ixonia Elementary School
