Sheiko Shark Tales

Principal Update
Dear Parents,
We have had a short week but a productive week. NWEA testing was finished for Reading and Math and now we just have to do makeups for our students who were out ill.
Yoga continues at fourth grade, the Renew Jr, program on building healthy relationships and making good choices is in its second week at grade three, and select fifth grade boys will begin a leadership/good decision making class with All American athlete Greg Jones this week.
And look at the photo below–many Sheiko students, parents and staff listened to the 60th anniversary “I Have a Dream Speech” by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the 29th annual United We Walk program at West Bloomfield Middle School and then walked together around the school parking lot. Chaired by Sheiko Shark Third Grade teacher, Ms. Jennifer Graham, it was a wonderful way to honor the memory of Dr. King.
Take a look as you enter the building and check out the ramp wall on the right. The pictures below show our fifth grade students putting their hand print on that wall. We had a great time painting hands and printing them on the wall for all to see.
Please remember to fill out the Returning Student Survey. Please use this link:
https://forms.gle/Ha9GDmtKzD8hR82S8 This is most helpful in planning for the 23-24 school year.
Consider attending the Gun Safety Program at 6:15 on Wednesday, January 25 at WBMS sponsored by the WBSD and the WBPD.
Sign up to volunteer at our circus on Friday, June 9, 2023. We need 100 people to pull off this amazing day for our students. Please be one of them. Never too early to set that day aside. You will not be sorry.
And finally, hope to see you roller skating at Bonaventure at 5 PM this coming Friday. Tickets can be bought at the door.
Remember our theme–Peace Begins with Me and talk to your children about what that means.
Enjoy the weekend and hope for sun!
Best Regards,
Kathy Sheiko
