Message from the Principal
Dear Westridge Community,
Next week, on both Monday and Tuesday, we will connect as a staff through valuable learning experiences. Teachers will explore topics related to our district’s Strategic Plan and continue to work on planning high quality instructional experiences for our students. We hope that while we learn you are able to connect as a family, enjoy a slower pace, and express your own messages of gratitude.
Sincerely,
Jules Laaperi

Vision Screening November 29th: Grades K,1,3,5
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Lake Oswego School District will be conducting the annual vision screening for students in your child’s school:
Westridge Elementary School on Monday, Nov. 29 at 8:45am.
Vision screening will be done by the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation. The OLSHF uses a Spot screener to do the vision screening. It looks like a large camera that takes a picture of your child’s eyes.
More information about Spot:
You have the right to decline vision screening for your child. Please let your child’s teacher
know if you would like your child to OPT-OUT of vision screening.
If your child is referred to a vision specialist, you will receive screening results within two
weeks of the screening day.
If for some reason the Spot screener could not take an adequate picture of your child’s eyes; a vision screening will be done using a distance eye chart.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Westridge office at 503-534-2371.
Immunization Exclusion Day:
For a list of required immunizations please visit our Nurses website here
Student Attendance:
If you need to pick your child up early from school, please let the teacher and the office know ahead of time.
Oregon State Assessment Opt-Out Form
State law requires us to inform you that a form is available from the State Department of Education that allows you to opt your child out of the math and English Language Arts assessments for the current school year. Should you wish to opt out your child, fill out the form and submit it to the main office at your child’s school. Please note the submission deadlines listed on the form. Meeting the deadline will help the school with planning and preparation. If you wish your child not to participate in the science assessment for grades 5, 8, and 11, submit this request in writing to the principal of your child's school.
If you have questions or want more information about state assessments, please contact your child’s principal or teacher(s).
