COUNSELOR'S CORNER
MEET MRS. PHELPS
Hi! My name is Mrs. Phelps. I am the school counselor at CES. I enjoy helping students with many things, such as:
- Self-awareness: The ability to accurately recognize one’s emotions and thoughts and their influence on behavior.
- Self-management: The ability to regulate one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations.
- Social awareness: The ability to take the perspective of and empathize with others from diverse backgrounds and cultures, to understand social and ethical norms for behavior, and to recognize family, school, and community resources and supports.
- Relationship skills: The ability to establish and maintain healthy and rewarding relationships.
- Responsible decision making: The ability to make constructive and respectful choices about personal behavior.
If you feel your student could benefit from a specific counseling lesson, please contact Mrs. Phelps at ashley.phelps@myeagles.org or 517-592-6632.

Nominate Your Top Teacher
Has a teacher in Columbia made a difference in your child's life? Please consider nominating them for the Jackson County Top Teacher Award!
Each year, Jackson Magazine recognizes deserving K-12 Jackson County teachers, honoring those innovative educators who go above and beyond to make a difference in their students' lives. Thanks to a partnership with the Jackson Community Foundation and the Hurst Foundation, the Teacher of the Year receives $7,500; the four Top Teachers each receive a $1,500 grant for classroom use and/or professional development. Top Teachers will be announced in the May issue of the magazine.
