GC-B Monthly Update!
August 2019
It is SO GOOD to be back!
We want to thank you for entrusting the GC-B staff with the care and education of your student. Our staff is ready to meet your child where they are and then let them take off! Over the course of the summer months, staff has been working hard to make their classrooms ready but also attended some training to extend their expertise in multiple subject matters. At the start of the summer, several staff members joined area teachers in Dubuque for "Be All In," a conference on social/emotional learning. Our literacy teachers attended a 2 day training on the new EL curriculum. Almost every staff member was able to attend "Please Pass the Love," a conference on mental health. This is the short list of even more learning that was going on! We are ready to apply and drive students to be the best they can be!

Goals for the year
EL Curriculum
Literacy instruction will have a face lift this year with the new curriculum. Student-centered, hands-on activities are tailored around loving the process of reading!
Trauma Responsive School
It starts with us! Through growth mindset and nurturing students’ mental health, staff is using a “Great Start” and “Great End.” These moments are built in to the beginning and end of the day to provide time for students to reflect.
Leader in Me
Behavior expectations have been created and will continue to adapt as all stakeholders develop their leadership skills.
