Points of Pride (Week of Sept. 19)
Alief ISD Spotlights, Communications and Announcements
Kerr High School is a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School.
Alief ISD was named a 2022 District of Distinction by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA).
Alief ISD is one of only 59 districts across the state to be named a District of Distinction by TAEA.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Alief ISD has received this. Districts received the honor for providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and build social-emotional learning that connects learners to their community and beyond.
Hastings High School student Juanita Omeje was named a 2023 National Merit semifinalist.
A total of about 50,000 participants receive recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program. In early September, more than 16,000 of the 50,000 high scorers were notified that they have qualified as semifinalists. Semifinalists are the highest-scoring entrants in each state. Finalists will be announced in early February.
Eight Alief ISD students were chosen to represent the district at the state TASA/TASB Convention this month.
Their artwork will be on display at the convention.
