GREEK MAN AND WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Each year the Greek Community honors two of their own with the Greek Man/Woman of the year awards. These awards are given to the individuals who best represent the Greek community in their own chapter and throughout campus. Each of the nominees have played a significant role in furthering the Greek system and they are often considered the "face" of Greek Life.
The Greek Woman of the Year the nominees were Becca Davis from Alpha Delta Pi, Jordan Shaver from Alpha Gamma Delta, Keana Bertocci from Alpha Xi Delta, and Destinie Hubbard from Zeta Tau Alpha. We would like to congratulate Keana Bertocci, a Psychology major from Perryopolis, PA, as 2016 Greek Woman of the Year. She was active as Continuous Open Bid Chair, Recruitment Vice President, and President of the Beta Sigma chapter of Alpha Xi Delta. Keana said, "Being a member of Wesleyan’s Greek community has dramatically changed my college experience. Having such a large role on Alpha Xi Delta’s executive board has not only advanced my leadership skills that will be beneficial in developing my future career, but it has also shown me what hard work and dedication does for a chapter as a whole. Over the past 4 years, I have made lifelong sisters and friends who have pushed me to reach my highest potential, and for that, I will always be grateful.”
The Greek Man of the Year nominees were Michael Geiselhart from Kappa Alpha Order, Cameron Smith from Theta Chi, Micah Bailey from Alpha Sigma Phi, and Josh Lopitz from Theta Xi. The Greek Man of the Year is Josh Lopitz from Theta Xi. Josh Lopitz is a Communication Studies Major, an Intern for the Office of Admissions, a discus thrower for the Track & Field Team, a Student Ambassador, as well as a Senior Campaign Manager. As a member of Theta Xi Fraternity, Josh has served as President twice, House manager, Public Relations Chairman, Recruitment Chairman, Brotherhood Chairman, Alumni Relations Chairman, and their Blue Iris Chairman. Josh has also served as the IFC Risk Manager where he oversaw a Risk Management Committee of 9. Overall, being a part of Greek life has allowed Josh to grow as a confident leader and create lifelong, lasting memories at Wesleyan.
The Office of Greek Life would like to congratulate Josh and Keana and thank them for all the many experiences you have supported in the Greek community.
