Field trip
Look for the permission slips that went home in your child's folder last week!
If you are planning to chaperone and have not completed your Volunteer Background check, you have time to do it before our field trip.
Basic Math Facts
Please capitalize on every opportunity for your child to use addition and subtraction skills away from school:
*Ask your child to add up different groupings of pennies, candy, beans, popcorn kernels, or any other small items.
*Play games with dice to practice adding.
*Have them combine two to three sets of something that you all come across during your day (i.e., count the white cars and the blue cars in a parking lot and add them together; count the green jelly beans and the pink jelly beans and add them up, etc.).
*Use daily subtraction situations you come across to practice subtraction skills.
Of course, there are also apps to help practice computation skills. Some of the apps we have used at school are:
Math Bingo
Pet Bingo
Monster Math
Butterfly Math
Math Facts
Math Kid
Xtra Math
If your child enjoys video games, perhaps suggesting one of these activities would be a good substitute.
Thank you for helping with these important skills at home!
