What do I need to do to become a substitute teacher?
REQUIREMENTS
1. You must have at least an associate’s degree or 60 semester hours through a regionally-
2. You must be at least 20 years old
3. You must complete the Substitute Authorization course.
4. Paraeducators who hold the limited substitute authorization to serve as a substitute only in their own special education classroom may serve as a substitute in any classroom (except driver’s ed).
5. Holders of a career and technical authorization with at least one year of experience may
serve as a substitute in any classroom (except driver’s ed).

The next day you will be able to register for the Sub. Auth. Course or visit the AEA PD Registration site
Use the email and password in the account you created on AEA Learning Online.
Click on the Courses tab across the top and then enter 167641 in the search box.
You can then select the dates that meet your needs.
