Online student verification process for 2020-2021
Hello parents and guardians,
Our online returning student verification process for the upcoming school year is now available for all campuses. We are requesting that you complete two online forms for school year 20-21 using the Skyward Parent Portal: the Student Verification and the Student Health forms for SY 20-21.
The online forms will replace our traditional end-of-year paperwork and first day of school packets. If you will please log onto your Skyward Family Access account and complete the forms, we would appreciate it. We are requesting that you complete the forms by Friday, May 29.
If you need a Skyward Family Access account or have additional questions, please contact Skyward support at parentportal@pfisd.net or their campus registrar by email. Please include your name, your student’s name, and your student’s school on the email to the parent portal.
Please ensure that you log on using the Parent Portal and not the Student Portal. Families may translate the forms using Google Translate (instructions here).

Free Summer Meals for Children
Pflugerville ISD Food Services Offers Free Summer Meals for Children
May 28, 2020 – Pflugerville Independent School District and Aramark Food Services are proud to offer curbside meals to children this summer through the USDA summer meals program.
Summer is an exciting time for children to enjoy playtime with friends, a week at camp, a family vacation, or time at the pool. However, for many children who receive free and reduced-price meals at school, summer can mean hunger. Just as learning doesn’t end when school lets out, neither does a child’s need for good nutrition.
This summer, Aramark Food Services will be providing free curbside meals to children at select Pflugerville ISD campuses Monday through Friday with two meal services 8-9 a.m. or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Friday, May 29 through Tuesday, Aug. 11. All children under 18 are eligible to receive free meals and do not need to register (or be registered in a summer school program) or show proof of age, income, or residence to do so.
Parents picking up meals for children not present in the car should be prepared to present one of the following through the window:
- Official letter/email from school listing children enrolled
- Individual student report cards
- Attendance record from parent portal of the school website
- Birth certificate for children
- Student ID cards
Parents may not pick up meals for children other than their own. Identification is not required for children as long as children are in the car during meal pick-up.
PfISD summer meals program sites are:
- Timmerman Elementary School
412 Swenson Farms Blvd., Pflugerville
- Dessau Middle School
12900 Dessau Road, Austin
- Kelly Lane Middle School
18900 Falcon Pointe Blvd., Pflugerville
- Park Crest Middle School
1500 N. Railroad, Pflugerville
- Westview Middle School

Please note that PfISD Extended Day Program summer campsites at Spring Hill and Dearing Elementary will only provide meals for camp participants. Superintendent's Message
Dear PfISD Parents/Guardians,
We are in the final week of this school year. It is moving to reflect back on where we were and how we started this academic year back in August and think of where we are now. This has been a challenging year as we made so many adjustments and modifications during the pandemic. I am thankful to our staff, parents and students for being understanding of the situation and coming together to make sure we remained a community and Pfamily throughout the challenges we faced. Thank you so much for your passionate service!
Student Report Cards:
With the academic year coming to a close this week, I know parents and staff are interested in final report cards.
End of year report cards for 2nd through 12th-grade students will be available online by the end of the day on June 4, 2020. If parents do not know how to log into the Skyward system, they are encouraged to review Skyward’s instructions for parents on PfISD’s website linked here or contact parentportal@pfisd.net. The district has received an overwhelming number of requests for Parent Portal accounts. We ask for patience as we work hard to create accounts and link all students within a household.
For kindergarten and 1st grade, report cards will be encrypted and emailed to parents by June 4, 2020. If a valid email address for a student’s parent or guardian is not available, the district will attempt to get a valid email from the family and/or send the report card via United States Postal Service.
Graduation Update:
We are working fast and furious on our graduation plans with less than one week until our first graduation ceremony. Our graduation schedule is:
- Pflugerville HS – June 1, 8 a.m.
- Hendrickson HS – June 2, 8 a.m.
- Connally HS – June 3, 8 a.m.
- PACE – June 3, 11 a.m.
- Weiss HS – June 4, 8 a.m.
Each graduate will be given 4 tickets for family members/guests to view the graduation ceremony. EVERY guest, regardless of age, MUST have a filled out ticket with a signature in order to gain entrance to the facility; this includes infants and toddlers. We will provide a spreadsheet to all parents outlining the designated parking area, assigned gate, Seat Section and Row assigned, as well as their graduate’s seat number on the field. As there is assigned seating, tickets are NOT transferrable.
The district will be relaxing some aspects of the dress code for students due to the ceremonies being held outside and the expected temperatures. Students will be allowed to dress in any manner which is in line with the district dress code underneath their graduate robes. When arriving at the graduation event, graduates should either have the gown on their arm or unzipped in order for staff to check dress code guidelines.
Dress Code for 2020 Graduates:
Cap and gown:
- Caps -- may be decorated on top only. (Nothing should be hanging off the top or sides) Any messages should be appropriate and fall within the student code of conduct
Attire:
- Warm weather attire which follows the PFISD dress code. (Shorts and t-shirts are fine.)
- Gowns should stay on until families leave the stadium.
Footwear:
- Appropriate footwear following PFISD dress code – ladies, flats only (no heels or wedges.) The turf is hard to walk on in these types of shoes.
A more in-depth graduation information packet will be sent out to seniors and their parents tomorrow.
Re-entry Plan for Fall:
As schools across the country think about how they might reopen, so are we. We have taken some time to think about our abrupt closure, remote learning efforts, feedback from our stakeholders, and federal, state, and local health organization guidance; all of which is worth looking back at, if only as a reminder that openings and closings are not simply a matter of turning a key.
For many families, it is unthinkable that our schools won’t open in the fall; equally, there are some that think remote instruction should continue, and schools should remain closed. We understand that the cost of keeping children out of classrooms is high, educationally, and socially. We also understand that the health and safety hazards associated with reopening are high as well.
The next phase of our work will be to study the complexities reflected in guidelines from the Texas Education Agency and Centers for Disease Control, which were released last week and to develop a re-entry plan that will allow us to manage the risk, not to deny or underplay it.
In making reopening decisions, we have established a task force to help us cautiously consider all of our options while maintaining the safety and health of our students and staff members. The task force will begin work on the following charges:
- Should schools not reopen, develop a distance learning plan that ensures TEKS-aligned and rigorous instruction, progress monitoring, and intervention can occur.
- Should schools need to close for an extended period of time during the 2020-21 school year, develop a distance learning plan that ensures TEKS-aligned and rigorous instruction, progress monitoring, and intervention occur with minimal disruption.
- Establish reopening practices and guidelines that maximize physical distancing in order to manage the risk of the coronavirus infection rate with PfISD schools and buildings.
We will have a task force re-entry website up and running by the second week in June. This site will maintain important information that the task force is considering and working on as well as our final re-entry plans. There will be opportunities for all PfISD stakeholders to provide feedback to the task force. This work is evolving and although we have more questions than answers at this time, what is clear is that the educational landscape has changed. Whenever and however we welcome students back, the logistical and teaching challenges will be enormous, and simply returning to our norm will be neither possible nor desirable. The pandemic has offered us yet another reminder that grace, kindness, and empathy must be extended to each other as we consider what is most appropriate for the future of our students and community.
Laptop/Device Return:
As a reminder, the Technology Department has begun collecting the district laptops and hotspots that were available for use during our Remote Learning. For your convenience and to ensure safety, parents or students, regardless of grade level, can return their laptops to ANY elementary campus between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. now through Friday, May 29. This will be a contactless delivery. Carts and Bins will be provided in the vestibules of each elementary campus for drop off. Please remember to bring all items checked out, including cables and bags. Students who register for summer school will be able to keep the device for the summer school session.
This 2019-20 academic year truly has been an interesting challenge but one in which I think we all learned something. And that is the goal of education: to never stop learning. I am thankful to you all for your dedication to the education of our PfISD students. Our teachers, staff, students and their parents/guardians are all important parts of our PfISD Pfamily that have made this year special. Let’s all continue to work hard this last week to close the school year stronger than we started and give us momentum toward 2020-21!
In the best interest of students,
Dr. Douglas Killian
Superintendent
Superintendente
