Dear Parents and Carers,
There have been some changes regarding the Working With Children requirements from the government and CEWA. Please note these below:
All people volunteering or working on the school grounds are required to complete a CEWA Working With Children Check (WWC) Declaration Form. This form will be available from Monday, 11 September. At this stage the form will be completed on a yearly basis.
PEOPLE THAT REQUIRE A WWC
- All people on school grounds involved in child related work must have a WWC unless they fit the criteria for an exemption.
- A parent reading 1-1 or in a small group in a class is required to have a WWC
- Grandparents who are not legal guardians of a child volunteering in a class must have a WWC
- Any incursion visitors are required to have a WWC
PEOPLE THAT DO NOT REQUIRE A WWC
- People not involved in child related work on school grounds are not required to have a WWC i.e. tradesman, parents at drop off and pick up
- Only legal guardians of students can claim the parent volunteering exemption for a WWC
- Legal Guardians / Parents volunteering in their own child’s class / school are not required to have a WWC. They claim WWC exemption
- Parents involved in class excursions / sports carnivals if their child is involved do not require a WWC. Their contact is classed as incidental contact
- Parents volunteering in the canteen are not required to have a WWC
- People visiting assemblies are not required to sign the WWC Declaration Form or have a WWC
The school is required to keep a record of all WWC Declarations on file.
CEWA have also advised that there are new requirements around issuing medication within schools. There is a new form that families are required to complete. This form outlines the protocols that the school requires of parents to dispense medication on the school grounds or at school events. There is a link below to this form, for families or they can request one from the school office.
We have a big two weeks coming up with our students participating in the Field Day Events and the School Athletics Carnival. I wish all of our students the best and thank Mr. Chatt for all of his work in organising the carnivals.
I look forward to seeing everyone tonight for the annual School Open Night from 5:30-7:00pm.
God Bless and have a great weekend.

Principal
