St. Columba's Primary School

O, God

Bless us in this in our endeavours.

Help face all the challenges and guide us towards the path of success.

May we make new friends and create rapport with others.

May we learn something new each day and be a better person with your help.

Dear Parents and Carers,

There have been some changes regarding the Working With Children requirements from the government and CEWA. Please note these below:

All people volunteering or working on the school grounds are required to complete a CEWA Working With Children Check (WWC) Declaration Form. This form will be available from Monday, 11 September. At this stage the form will be completed on a yearly basis.

  • All people on school grounds involved in child related work must have a WWC unless they fit the criteria for an exemption.
  • A parent reading 1-1 or in a small group in a class is required to have a WWC
  • Grandparents who are not legal guardians of a child volunteering in a class must have a WWC
  • Any incursion visitors are required to have a WWC

  • People not involved in child related work on school grounds are not required to have a WWC i.e. tradesman, parents at drop off and pick up
  • Only legal guardians of students can claim the parent volunteering exemption for a WWC
  • Legal Guardians / Parents volunteering in their own child’s class / school are not required to have a WWC. They claim WWC exemption
  • Parents involved in class excursions / sports carnivals if their child is involved do not require a WWC. Their contact is classed as incidental contact
  • Parents volunteering in the canteen are not required to have a WWC
  • People visiting assemblies are not required to sign the WWC Declaration Form or have a WWC

The school is required to keep a record of all WWC Declarations on file.

CEWA have also advised that there are new requirements around issuing medication within schools. There is a new form that families are required to complete. This form outlines the protocols that the school requires of parents to dispense medication on the school grounds or at school events. There is a link below to this form, for families or they can request one from the school office.

We have a big two weeks coming up with our students participating in the Field Day Events and the School Athletics Carnival. I wish all of our students the best and thank Mr. Chatt for all of his work in organising the carnivals.

I look forward to seeing everyone tonight for the annual School Open Night from 5:30-7:00pm.

God Bless and have a great weekend.

Allen McMahon

Student work will be on display around the classrooms.

The Robotics Teams will showcase their amazing performances from the Robo Cup competition in Kalyara Mia (Onstage Teams from 6:10pm) and the Library (Maze And Rescue Teams).

The Library will be used to house the LEAP and Science displays, with activities available for parents and students.

Kalyara Mia (Covered Assembly Area) will showcase the Art Exhibition. You do not want to miss this!

Dinner is sorted with food trucks in the Drive Through – JD Food Truck (Hot Dogs, Burgers, Chips), Ninja Cuisine (Japanese) & Suzy’s Ice Cream Truck.

Bring along some small change to purchase something fresh and organic from our very own school garden! There will be a stall set up in front of the library. Come and check it out before it’s gone!

Students are encouraged to stamp their checklist, collected from their classroom, as they move around the school. Don’t forget to take a #selfie!

Please remember that this event is not an appropriate time for a private meeting regarding your child’s progress. Should you need to discuss an important issue please make a time to meet with your child’s class teacher.

Thank you for your support of this great community-building initiative.

Every student at school has received an individual student photo SHOOTKEY to bring home.

Should your child lose their individual order sheet you can request your child’s SHOOTKEY from the office.

All orders are due by Monday, 11 September. Please contact Photo Hendriks if you have not ordered by this date.

The Customer Service phone line is 9361 3206.

Hi Everyone,

This week we held our second last P&F meeting for the year. I continue to be blown away by the amazing community here at St Columba's and the passion behind all of the P&F members. We are really lucky.

A couple of updates from the P&F:

On the last day of Term 3 (Thursday, 21 September), the P&F will be providing all the children with a sausage sizzle and icy pole as a fun addition to their last day of a big term. Footy colours, hot dogs and icy poles - what a day! If your child has any dietary requirements or you do not want them to receive a hot dog or icy pole, please let admin or your P&F rep know.

P&F Pitch - Rubix Cube Club

Congratulations to the students for coming up with such wonderful ideas for the P&F Pitch. We are pleased to announce that we will be co-funding with the school, the new "rubix cube club" led by our wonderful Year 6's. What a wonderful idea and something all the children can enjoy.
