Bonsall Bear News
Week of 10/25-10/29
Dear BES families,
All families should have received an updated letter from Dr. Staine regarding the Covid-19 pooled student testing procedure. I am including it below in case you did not receive it. Please note that ALL student accounts have been set. IMPORTANT- if you DO NOT want your student to be tested, do not open the link from Concentric.
Monster Mash is coming! Please see the flyer below to support the PTA as one of our biggest fundraisers of the year approaches!
Safety is of utmost importance at BES. More and more parents are exiting their cars during afternoon pick up which cause not only traffic congestion, but a safety concern. Please do not, for any reason, abandon your car during pick up. Your cooperation is appreciated.
There is information below regarding student pool testing. This is an opt in/opt out program that will help students remain in school.
If you are not receiving emails via Parent Square regarding positive Covid-19 cases on our campus, please double check your settings. If you are still unsure, you can reach out to our attendance clerk Sandra Esparza for support.
In this edition of the BBN, you will find information on:
- PTA board and membership
- Bell schedule and district calendar (linked here)
- Bonsall Bear Recognition
- Health & Safety - including the newest Covid-19 Decision Tree (as of October 7, 2021)
- Child Nutrition Services information
- Upcoming events
For additional information, please contact our office manager, Pamela Lopez.
*There is no supervision prior to 7:30 a.m. PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR CHILD OFF PRIOR TO 7:30 a.m. Safety is of the utmost priority at BES and students being left unattended in front of the school is unsafe.
*Lost and found items will be available in front of the school every Friday morning and afternoon.
*Please be sure to call in your student's absences each day with the reason for the absence.
*You MUST have an ID in order for the office to release your student to you or whomever is picking them up. That person must also be on Aeries as an emergency contact. I know that this has not been past practice, but safety is at the forefront of our school community. We have a new office staff that is not familiar with every face associated to each student. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
*Please note, you may not take videos or pictures of any child that is not yours. This includes video taping your child on the kindergarten playground before school. Please be mindful and respectful of other people's children.
*The kindergarten gate closes at 7:55 a.m. If you arrive to the kinder gate after that time, you are required to drop your child off at the front of the school and they will enter through the office. Thank you for your cooperation.
Every Thursday is early release day. The kindergarten students will be released at 12:50 and grades 1-5 will be released at 1:00.
We have a no animal policy on campus. As cute as they are, please do not walk your dog on campus to drop off or pick up your child. This protects the students, the staff and you.
Students can not be checked out during the 30 minute window prior to the end of the school day. That means that students must be checked out by 2:00 p.m. on a typical school day and 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Student Pool Testing - UPDATED!!
Dear parents, caregivers, and guardians,
We greatly appreciate your continued partnership during this unprecedented school year. As we shared in our previous correspondence in our continued efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have been working closely with the California Department of Public Health and Concentric by Ginko to implement a free COVID-19 pooled testing program for students and staff at our school. As we initiated the first phase of the program this week, we unfortunately found that there was an error in the system set up. This error led to all students being identified as providing consent. My sincerest apologies for this occurrence. Please be aware however no students have been tested. The company will be rebooting the system to clear the errors today. After this is completed starting tomorrow October 22, 2021, parents who are interested in having their child participate in the testing program can then log on and provide consent for their participation. Please use the same log in process as outlined below. We will then initiate our student testing program effective November 1, 2021.
Please note: Only parents who are interested in having their child participate in the testing program should log on to give consent. Also if you have provided your consent following the earlier notice, you will have to do so again (I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause)
As we shared before, your permission is essential in order for your child to participate in the pooled testing program at school. Please take a moment to log on to the link provided below to start the process:
Once you log on, please enter the access code identified below for the school where your child is attending:
Once you log on, please enter the access code. For Bonsall Elementary School the access code is: GEL5GO

We take student and staff health and safety very seriously. Please see the information below regarding safety protocol.
