It is time for our annual NEHS drive for a new leaf. Our community has always shown tremendous support for this worthy organization. Please see the flyer below!

With Fall Conferences approaching, here are a few items to help you prepare.

Before the conference:

• Ask your child how she feels about school.
  
• Ask your child if there is anything that he wants you to talk about with his teacher.
  
• Tell your child that you and the teacher are meeting to help her.
  
• Make a list of topics that you want to talk about with the teacher

Prepare a list of questions such as:

• What are my child's strongest and weakest subjects?
• Does my child complete work on time?
• Does my child participate in class?
• Does my child seem happy at school?
• What can I do at home to help?

During the conference:

• Be on time (or early) for the meeting.
  
• End the meeting on time. Other parents will probably have a conference after yours.
  
• Relax and be yourself.
  
• Stay calm during the conference.
  
• Ask the most important questions first.
  
• If your child receives special services such as reading support, ask about your child's progress in those classes.
  
• Ask for explanations of anything you don't understand
  
• Ask your child's teacher for ways that you can help your child at home.
  
• Thank the teacher.
  

After the conference:

• Talk about the conference with your child.
  
• Talk about the positive points, and be direct about problems.
  
• Tell your child about any plans you and the teacher created.
  
• Keep in touch with the teacher during the school year.

Fall conference time is just around the corner. Conferences are an opportunity for you and your student’s teacher to discuss progress thus far this school year. While the time is limited, it does allow for the teacher to share information and for you to ask questions.

Each teacher will share details on how they will conduct conferences this year, be it in person, on the phone, or virtually through WebEx.

In an effort to make the scheduling of conferences as efficient and effective as possible, we utilize an online sign-up system called SignUp. The link below will take you to a list of our teachers. Please locate the teachers with whom you’d like a conference and set up a time that works for you.

Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up at Sonoma Ranch Elementary and PTSO wants to show our staff and teachers how much we appreciate them. PTSO will be providing lunch and dinner on Thursday the 21st and lunch on September 22nd for the staff and teachers during Parent Teacher Conferences. We really appreciate all of your support and help in providing these meals for our great teachers and staff at Sonoma Ranch Elementary!
