Principal's Bulletin
Week 9: October 19-23, 2020
This week marks the beginning of the 2nd nine weeks of school and we will be welcoming back all students that selected in person learning on the parent survey. If your child will be returning for in person learning, please read the following reminders:
-Please send your child with a clean mask daily and a water bottle.
--If your child has a district issued device please send it with them (make sure it is charged) and their workbooks sent home prior to school starting
--You will have to complete a daily health screener on your child before bringing him/her to school. Health Screener LInk
--Due to social distancing, at this time we are not able to allow any visitors or parents on campus
--We are not able to take any deliveries (including lunch)
--School hours 7:45-3:10. Your child can be dropped off as early as 7:00 AM (preferably between 7:15-7:30)
--Please be prepared to show ID when picking up your child. At dismissal all parents are asked to stay in their vehicles. Please be patient with us, the first few days may take a little longer.
-Please take a few minutes to review our campus safety handbook. Allen Elementary Playbook
Your child's classroom teacher will also be sharing this information with you. If you did not select in person instruction for your child during the second nine weeks they are not eligible to return on Monday. For everyone's safety, please do not bring your child to school if you did not speak to an administrator to confirm your child's return or if you did not select in person learning for the second nine weeks. Any child not on our return to school list will have to be picked up. We thank you for your help with this matter to ensure that we are able to bring back our students safely.
Peace, Love, Eagles.

Principal
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Community Eligibility Provision
Northside ISD is required to collect student data (TEC 39 for Texas state requirements and ESEA sections 1111 and 1116 for U.S. Department of Education requirements) to determine the disbursement of state federal funds (ESEA section 1113). This information will be used by Northside departments to help evaluate, fund, or determine programs that may benefit your child. Programs that benefit individual students who qualify may include: grants, scholarships, Summer School tuition, testing fee waivers, financial assistance with health services and/or other government support services.
Beginning Monday, October 12th your child's classroom teacher will have an assignment in Schoology under the Attendance Course titled CEP Student Eligibility Form. This form is intended for the parent to complete for each child. Our campus needs 100% of our student forms completed. The information gathered on these forms help our campus to be eligible for funds to support the needs of our students and community. All forms are due by Wednesday, October 21st. If you have any questions about these forms, please do not hesitate to call the school for more information.
Currently we only have about 1/5 of our forms completed. It is imperative that we have 100% of our students complete this form. You may also access the form from this following link: Allen CEP Form.

Report Cards Available October 23, 2020
As it has been stated before, all assignments during the first nine weeks count and are being graded. Students that are virtual have the same expectations as those that are in-person. We have found that many of our virtual students have missing assignments. Our job is to determine mastery of the content and this cannot be done if a student has not completed their assignments. The teachers will be giving students an "Incomplete" in the grade book for any work that was not completed/not submitted.
Report cards will be available for viewing through the Home Access Center (HAC) on Friday, October 23rd. Students who receive an "Incomplete" for the first nine weeks will have until Friday, December 4th to make up any missing assignments. Any "Incomplete" assignments not submitted by December 4th will go towards your child's average for the first nine weeks and may result in a failing grade.
Prior to December 4th, teachers will be scheduling virtual parent conferences for any student that has an "Incomplete". Teachers will meet with all parents by the end of January.
Parents, we need your assistance. It becomes very challenging for our teachers to monitor the work that our virtual students are completing. If your child is a virtual learner, we ask for your assistance to monitor what students are and are not doing. We realize that Schoology is new, but the staff would be happy to help you. We all want our students to be successful, and I believe this can happen if we all work together.
Red Ribbon Week October 26-30th
Halloween Celebration 10.30.2020
All costumes must be age-appropriate. Please no violent or graphic imagery. Costumes may not include any prop weapons (such as knives, swords, guns, throwing stars, etc.). Parents will be called to bring their child a change of clothes if their costume is inappropriate for the school setting.
There will NOT be a Halloween parade this year. Student who chose to wear their costumes will be wearing them all day and will not be able to change in to our out of their costumes at school. Please use your best judgement in determining whether your child is able to wear their costume comfortably all day.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Appropriate face coverings (face masks) must still be worn with all costumes. Masks that come with costumes do not take the place of a face mask.
