Week 6
Message from your Principal
Hello Eagles! I hope everyone had a wonderful week! I want to spend this weeks newsletter celebrating our Eagles. We have so many great things happening on campus. Last Thursday we had our All Region Jazz Concert at UTEP and our kids are so impressive. They are learning to improve and they sound wonderful! I'm so proud of them and the concert was so much fun! On Saturday we had destination imagination where we competed with the rest of the district. Again, our Eagles are so creative! I loved every bit of their performance! It's such a joy to see our kids come up with wonderful skits out of nothing and the joy on their faces was priceless. On Sunday we had the Sun City Showdown competition for our cheer and I have never experienced goosebumps during a performance and that day, I did! I am so proud of our ladies! Thank you to Coach Chavez and all the hard work her and the girls put in. I am beyond proud of their performance! Our Eagles are the best! What a wonderful week it was!
Thank you to all those that attended our Saturday camp again! We had over 160 scholars join us from 8-12 pm. Thank you to our parents for supporting our kids education. I hope everyone enjoyed their pizza!! We have another Saturday camp next week and yes, we will be serving pizza again! We tutor certain grade levels during these camps. Please keep an eye out for invitations going out during the week!
Eagles, don't forget to come to school all day, everyday and bring in those Dr's notes within 48 hours of the absence. Have a great week and don't forget to go see your teachers after school for tutoring!!

Message from Nurse Hernandez
Scholars, if you are sick or get sick please stay home! Get tested especially if you feel you have had contact with someone who has tested positive recently. If you test positive, ESWIPE! I will contact your parents about the details regarding your absences but the makeup work is up to you to email your teachers accordingly.
What to do if you are sick
· If I am experiencing symptoms
Please stay home if you have a fever (>100.3 F) and have to treat it with medication like Tylenol or anything that is a fever reducer. If you tested negative, you could come back after 24 hours of being fever free without the use of medication. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about your symptoms or what to do if you are feeling sick.
· If I have had contact with someone who has tested positive
If you don’t have any symptoms, you can come to school. If you have had contact and started feeling symptoms (usually it starts with a headache and/or a sore throat) stay home and get tested.
· If I tested positive
1. Stay Home! You are to quarantine for 5 days from the day you started symptoms or tested positive (if asymptomatic).
2. ESWIPE. Fill out the questionnaire fully because this will help with your clearance on coming back to school. Please have parents keep communication about illnesses with me and not attendance.
3. Email your teachers about your schoolwork. Each of your teachers might have a different process so email them individually if needed.
4. Once I receive the ESWIPE, I will reach out to your parents about the details of your case, and I will communicate with attendance to excuse your absences.
5. If you have any other questions, please ask your parents email me.
Feel free to email me as well if you have any questions or concerns!
Your school nurse,
Nurse Melissa Hernandez
Dress Code
Jeans are only allowed on Fridays with a school spirit shirt! No Eastlake shirts or hoodies are allowed. All other days, scholars must be in uniform. We have updated the dress code. Uniforms are still the same color scheme. Dress code will be enforced. Any scholar out of dress code after the first week will be required to attend lunch detention for the duration of lunch while they eat. Please click here to view our dress code policy. Student Handbook
Scholar Drop Off Procedures
We have updated our scholar drop off procedures in the mornings ONLY. The afternoon pickup locations are the same as last year. In the mornings, there are TWO drop off locations that you can view below. Please notice the entrances and exits. The drop off by the basketball courts have changed to help alleviate the flow of traffic. Please make plans to drop your child off early to avoid congestion and lines. Our parking lot will be closed to all those dropping their child off at school and only reserved for those that have business in the front office.
Bell Schedule
We have a new bell schedule. Classes begin at 7:45 AM every day of the week. We will be going to EIGHT periods instead of the FOUR like last year. The bell schedule has been provided below for your viewing and planning. Mondays are adjusted to accommodate our SEL lessons (social emotional learning). This is a time where our scholars will learn how to deal with situations at school and how to cope with all the stresses of being a pre teen. It is extremely important to ensure our children are healthy emotionally so that they can be successful academically.
Cell Phone Policy
We are continuing our "NO CELL PHONE" policy this year. Scholars will NOT be able to use their cell phones during the day. They may use the phone in the front office and all messages will be delivered to scholars when left by parents. Ensor does not allow cell phone/earbud use from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM and also during "after school tutoring." If confiscated, the phone or earbuds will be turned into the front office and parents will need to pick up items. First confiscation is free, the second time and all other times after that, there will be a $15 charge. We thank you for your support.
School Supplies
School supplies can be found on our school web page. Click here to view.
Pedestrian Safety
Pedestrian safety is an initiative we are starting in #TeamSISD. I want to remind you to please slow down when you are driving around the school. Please refrain from using your cell phones and be aware of scholars who may be crossing. I also want to remind our children about the importance of using crosswalks when walking to and from school or getting off and on the bus.
Face Masks Optional
The use of face masks in Socorro Independent School District schools, facilities and school buses is optional. All students, employees, staff and visitors may or may not wear a face mask while on SISD campuses, district buildings and buses.
Attendance
Please ensure your children are attending all day, everyday. If in the event that your child is absent for an illness or a doctors visit, please turn in documentation to our front office so that the absence will be excused.
Those with many absences will be monitored daily. These scholars will need to initiate a 45 Day Attendance Improvement Plan and be required to attend Loss of Credit (LOC) sessions and may be sent to attendance court.
