Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a writer of horror stories and made the stories "The Raven" and "Tamerlane". Because of his talent of catching readers imagination and interest, people called him "Father of the Detective story."

Edgar Poe was born to Eliza Poe and David Poe, Jr. He didn't really know his parents because his dad left the family, and his mom died at 24 and he was 3. Losing his parents Edgar went to live with foster parents, their names are John and Frances Allan. They lived in Richard, Virgina. They didn't make that much money so they went to gambling, but ended in dept.

Poe's life was full with sickness and death. Whenever Edgar really loved someone they got the disease Tuberculosis. His mom died when she was 24 and so did his wife Virginia also died at 24.

Poe was found in a bar later where a election took place, Poe was took to Washington College Hospital later that night. Far from home and surrounded by strangers Poe lived his last days. Poe died on October 7, 1849 at the age of 40 years old. Poe's death is a mystery because he was found far from home and on the ground in someone else's clothes. After his death Rufus Grisworld wrote about him. What he wrote was that Edgar was a drunken, womanizing madman with no morals and no friends. He said this because Poe wrote somethings about Rufus in his books.
