Principal's Message

Dear Edison Families,

As Fall weather finally begins to roll in, we are so excited to be able to bring back one of our treasured traditions here at Edison -- Trunk or Treat! Huge thanks to our committed volunteers who have spent time planning and organizing the event. We look forward to everyone enjoying the event and joining in the final stages to ensure the event is a success and has enough volunteers decorating and setting up their trunks in our parking lot. Thank you for supporting our PFO!

And as the weather has started to cool it’s been extremely rewarding to see our students also settle into more familiar routines. Our Associate Student Body (ASB) has been so instrumental in maintaining and supporting our positive school culture. We are so fortunate to have so many student leaders at Edison and they continue to be true role models across our campus.

Our core pillars of respect, responsibility, and integrity have connected well with our daily social emotional learning (SEL) lessons across all classrooms this year. This month we’re extending that focus to discuss specifically ways students can recognize and respond to bullying in its various forms. Our entire Middle School will also be looking at how this applies to being online and their own Digital Citizenship.

Our focus each and everyday is to ensure every child develops advocacy skills for themselves and others to address and prevent bullying and that all Bobcats:

  • feel empowered to help prevent bullying they see or experience

  • identify what help is needed to address bullying

  • ask others to get involved

  • respectfully express disagreement

  • offer their opinions with confidence

  • make a positive difference for themselves and others

We know it's hard to protect your child if you don't see it happen, or entirely understand the problem. Here are some practical tips and A Quick Parenting Guide to Bullying Prevention from PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center.

Thank you for your partnership and support! I look forward to hearing from you and seeing everyone at this year’s Drive-Through Trunk or Treat. As always, you are always welcome to connect with me, just call ahead and the door will open.

Oh, and remember to Think Blue -- Let’s go Dodgers!

Social Emotional Learning (SEL): Mindfulness and Stress Management

During the month of October, your child’s SEL instruction will focus on Self-Management skills learning about mindfulness practices and stress management. Stress can affect health, behavior, thoughts, and feelings. Recognizing and developing strategies for managing stress in healthy ways can lead to life-long physical and psychological well-being.

This month, students will engage in activities to help them effectively regulate their emotions, control impulses, and manage stress. These activities help build emotional awareness, reflection, and calming skills.

Students Presenting Symptoms at Home

In an effort to maintain a healthy school environment and to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we ask that all parents screen their child for COVID-19 symptoms each morning before they send them to school, and keep them at home if they are sick using our Daily Checklist for Families.

This shared responsibility is critical to our ability to keep everyone safe, healthy and attending in person each day.

Please report your child’s illness with details of all symptoms to our health office at 909-984-5618. Our Health Office will follow up on all students that are at home with COVID-19 symptoms.
