Imogene Gideon Elementary


Welcome back and Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break!

January and February are busy months here at Gideon with Open House, Spelling Bee, and the 100th day of school all approaching in the next few weeks.

Key Points

  • Lunch will be from 12:40-1:10 pm
  • 4th grade conference time is 2:15-3:15 pm
  • Don't forget our SchoolStore.com fundraiser to help support Gideon Gators! There is no selling involved, just sign up and if you or your friends/family members are going to shop online, go to SchoolStore.com and Gideon will get a percentage of what is spent. Additional information/envelopes can be found in the Gideon front office.
  • We are collecting Box Tops for Education here at Gideon. This is another quick and easy way to support the school. They can be found on many packages and products in your local grocery store. Simply clip the labels and send them to school!

Science- soil; weathering and erosion; Earth's resources

Social Studies- identify the accomplishments and explain the economic motivations and impact of significant empresarios, including Stephen F. Austin and Martin de Leon, on the settlement of Texas

Grammar/Writing-write to a central topic (expository)

Reading-procedural text

Holiday Dress Days

Show your holiday spirit and join us in some holiday cheer! Students are welcome to dress up on the following dates:

Friday Dec. 15th- Friday favorite-wear your favorite holiday shirt or wear red and green

Monday Dec. 18th- Monday can be ugly - make or pull out your favorite "ugly holiday sweater"

Tuesday Dec. 19th - Baby it's cold outside - bundle up in your favorite holiday socks, scarf, and hat

Wednesday Dec. 20th - Island of Misfit Toys - come dressed as your favorite holiday character

Thursday Dec. 21st - All aboard the Polar Express! - finish the week in your favorite pajamas. **Please remember no slippers and to wear your sneakers!

Cocoa with Claus Math & Literacy Event

When: December 9th

Time: 9:00- am- 11:00 am

Where: Gideon cafeteria & gym

Details: cost is $2 for your loaded hot cocoa

It is FREE to meet Santa and participate in the activities. Bring the entire family! Holiday store will be open and vendors will be here so you can get your last minute Christmas shopping done.
