What's The Largest Organ Again?

It's Your Skin!

Importance of Our Skin

Not everyone knows that it is the skin that is the largest organ of the human body. It covers you and for most of the time, what covers you will be the basis of what others will think of you. Not everyone will agree but me, myself is guilty about judging a person from what I see on the outside.

Skin could make or break you as a person around many eyes. I hate to say it but sometimes your skin alone could already give one person a glimpse of what you are. The appearance of your skin could be related to your hygiene, diet and your overall lifestyle. Don’t trust the old saying that says: “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. You cannot tell people to look inside you before they judge you. People will judge people based on what they see. That’s a human nature and you have to deal with it.

Having a beautiful and flawless skin is one way to impress a person. That’s a fact. According to a study, almost 60% would be attracted to a person who possesses flawless skin. If you possess that, you could use that to your advantage like when you are hunting for a job, having your 1st date or just building your self-confidence. Skin is definitely a part of humans that should be taken care seriously.

Apart from the physical attributes, we should also not forget that skin’s primary function is to be a barrier to prevent entry of foreign bodies, for example bacteria, inside our body that could potentially cause infection leading to serious medical illness. This, above all is the most important function of the skin. The skin is also the organ that protects us from the harmful effect of ultraviolet rays from the sun. Having a healthy skin would prevent a person from having skin cancer which is one of the leading types of cancers worldwide.

The skin is the largest organ of the body for a reason. Being the largest organ comes with great function. You have to be aware of what your skin does for you and you should do something in return. Take care of you skin because your skin could define what you are.
