What is a Wellness Counselor? (Mrs. Warren)
The Wellness Counselor can meet with students whose mental health is keeping them from succeeding both in school and outside of school. The topics discussed with students include but are not limited to anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem, anger management and grief/loss. The Wellness Counselor partners with a network of community services and agencies, creating a coordinated effort to promote a continuum of care and services for all students and their families.
Our Wellness Counselor is available to ALL students and has an open-door policy. Students can request an appointment with Mrs. Warren electronically through the Clearview Counseling webpage or in person by stopping by Room 710 in the high school. Students are protected by federal law, which grants them confidentiality (excluding thoughts or attempts of suicide, physical/sexual abuse or neglect, or threats of physical/sexual abuse against another person). In addition to self-referral, teachers, administrators, parents and peers may refer a student to the Wellness Counselor when they are concerned about someone’s health and well-being. The first step of the referral process should be coordinated through the student's school counselor.
What is a Student Assistance Counselor? (Mrs. Datz)
How is a SAC different from a school counselor?
The Student Assistance Program's goals are designed not to punish students involved with drugs or alcohol and other high risk behaviors, but rather to remove the aura of shame that surrounds such students. Teenagers are exposed to external and internal struggles which can impact student success.
The Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) aims to provide all students with the knowledge, attitudes and skills to cope with these obstacles and develop a healthy lifestyle. The SAC helps students take a look at their life-style, identify negative consequences, and guide them toward making better choices. Providing mental health support and referral to services is an integral part of our counseling department's mission in promoting the well-being of each student. The SAC partners with a network of community services and agencies, creating a coordinated effort to promote a continuum of care and services for all students and families.
The SAC is available to all students and has an open-door policy. Students can request an appointment with Mrs. Datz electronically or in person in Room 710. Students are protected by a federal law, which grants them confidentiality (excluding thoughts or attempts of suicide, physical/sexual abuse or neglect, or threats of physical/sexual abuse against another person.) In addition to self-referral, teachers, administrators, parents, and peers, can refer a student to the SAC for assessment when there are concerns.
Acenda Services
Acenda Counseling & Wellness Center has been given the opportunity again to collaborate with Clearview Regional School District to provide therapy sessions during the school day. Therapy would come at no cost to the parent/guardian and no insurance information is needed. Sessions can focus on coping with anxiety surrounding school, community, and/or home, coping with symptoms related to grief and/or loss, social skills training, as well as other topics tailored to the needs of each child/adolescent. Acenda offers outpatient counseling, Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP), Youth Partial Care, medication management and more. Our Acenda program is offered to students with highest need and/or those who experience challenges getting connected to services outside of school.
Please contact your child's school counselor or Mrs. Datz with any questions.
