Kids' Heart Challenge: Thanks to all of our students and families who helped raise money for the American Heart Association. As a school we were able to donate over $5000 to benefit this organization. In addition, our school will benefit from some new playground and PE equipment for our help with this project

Heart & Sole Shoe Drive: THE LAST DAY TO DONATE SHOES IS WEDNESDAY! Student Council is partnering with the Boone County Waste Management District to host the annual shoe drive--REUSE Heart & Sole. All types of shoes will be accepted and passed on to Central Indiana non-profit Changing Footprints. Shoes will be sorted; reusable ones will be redistributed to those in need and the non-reusable tennis shoes will be recycled with Nike. Changing Footprints is asking for shoes with laces to be tied together this year. Last year, Thorntown collected 434 pairs of shoes. This year our goal is 500!!! There will be a school-wide reward if we reach our goal! We are so close, so clean out those shoe bins this weekend!

Help Wanted: At Thorntown, we are in immediate need of a part-time cafeteria monitor (Hours 10-1, daily) and we are always looking bus drivers! Please help spread the word. Mrs. Pearson, our Transportation Director, and some of her crew will host information booths at athletic events in each building to help recruit drivers for needs across the district. Come join our amazing team!

Visiting Author: Dani Robinson-Gay will visit our school on Wednesday to share her book, Please, with our students. She will talk about her life as an author and inspire students to be kind and considerate with their words! A limited supply of her books will be available for purchase. Please send cash or check payable to Dani Robinson-Gay, if you'd like to purchase one. Hardback $20; Paperback $15

Visitors & Volunteers

We are excited to welcome parent volunteers and visitors for special events. We ask that visitors arrive after 8:15 to allow us to get through arrival and secure the building, before opening up the sign-in stations. We will not have visitors join students for lunch, as no visitors will be permitted in the cafeteria during meal times. Please note that all volunteers and visitors to the school must check in with a driver's license or government-issued identification each time they visit. Volunteers will need to complete a criminal background check prior to helping with classrooms or attending field trips. Regular volunteers will still need their identification prior to entry each time they visit. Don't leave home without it!
