Hello, Longwood Families!
What a spectacular start! We are SO thrilled to have our students back. Our lions spent these first few days connecting with their classmates and new teachers and familiarizing themselves with expectations and routines across the building. Students organized their materials and many moved into their new lockers. The positive energy and enthusiasm from our Pride was felt across the building!
Procedures:
This upcoming week we will be focusing on school-wide procedures. We'll review information on the morning announcements and students will continue practicing with their class. Below is this week's schedule:
Monday: Lunchroom
Tuesday: Hallways & Lockers
Wednesday: Restrooms
Thursday: Classroom Procedures (sharpening pencils, asking to use the restroom, where to turn in work, what to do when finished with an activity, etc)
Friday: Blacktop & Playground
Arrival:
On Monday we will begin our typical arrival routine. All students will enter at Door #2 or #3 by the Blacktop. Doors open at 8:50 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 9:00 on Wednesdays. **Playground is CLOSED at arrival and dismissal**
Breakfast:
Breakfast & Lunch are free for all Longwood Students this year! Grab-N-Go breakfast stations will be at Door #2 and Door #3. Please talk with your child if they should stop by to pick up breakfast before heading to class.
Lunch:
We're hopeful the cooler temperatures this week will allow classes to enjoy lunch in the lunchroom. Lunch Menus can be found Here. *NOTE: We do not accept food deliveries for students from Uber Eats, DoorDash, GrubHub, or any other delivery services.
Dismissal:
Thank you so much for confirming your dismissal plans with us! It is important that we know how your child will be going home each day. We appreciate your help in calling the MAIN OFFICE before 3:00 PM to communicate any dismissal changes 630-428-6789. We ask that you speak with a member of our office staff rather than emailing or calling your child's teacher. Teachers' primary focus during the day is supporting your student's learning and they are often unavailable to check email, Dojo, or phone messages until after dismissal.
If your child is a car rider or a kindergarten walker, please have your pickup tag displayed! We have extra copies in the main office and at the car line. Kindergarten walkers can only be released to an adult. **Playground is CLOSED at arrival and dismissal**

Please join us this Tuesday at 7:00pm for time to Play at the Playground and the first PTA Meeting of the year!
All families are invited to attend our 1st Lunch on the Lawn of the 2023-24 school year on Friday, September 1st! See below for grade level lunch times and additional details!

Lunch on the Lawn is a time we invite our families to enjoy lunch with their student(s). You are welcome to bring lunch for your student(s) or simply sit with your student(s) as they enjoy their school lunch. We will gather on the front lawn during the scheduled lunch times below. You are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. If you would like to stay for recess on the blacktop or playground after, you are welcome! *Note: Students have 20 minutes to eat lunch and 15 minutes to recess. If you have multiple students, you are welcome to attend multiple lunches. We are unable to bring siblings out at a different time other than their scheduled lunch block.
