Lent Services

Please join us for midweek Lenten service every Wednesday until Holy Week. There are two opportunities to worship in church. The 12 pm service is an "all mask" service. We ask all participants to wear a mask at all times.

Masks are recommended while not at your seat for the 7 pm service. If you cannot join us at church, you can also watch a live stream of the 12 pm service on the Salem Church's YouTube channel,

Looking Ahead to Easter Services

During Lent, we focus on how we are sorry for our sin and the things we have done wrong. Our sins are so serious that the punishment is death and eternal separation from God, but Jesus took this punishment upon Himself. So we repent, asking Jesus to help us be humble and admit our sin.

March Is Reading Month

During the month of March, students are encouraged to participate in a school wide challenge to read more and grow as independent readers. This year students will be working toward completing an individual BINGO reading challenge sheet. Prizes are awarded to students as they accomplish their reading goals. Check the school calendar on our website for a few fun activities for students during March!

A big THANK YOU to Mrs. Maurer for all she does for our students in the library and for all the time she puts into making Reading Month a success!

Feelin’ Good Mileage Club

Official registration for Mileage Club ended on February 28th. We have 85% of our school signed up to participate! That is amazing! Students may still register late at until late March, they just will not receive any personalized cards from Sparrow. Due to legal restrictions, students may not participate if they are not registered by a parent.

We are looking for some volunteers to monitor the children’s walking, which takes place at their lunchtime recess from 11:20-1 pm. If you could spare an afternoon or two per week, please call or email the school office. The program will run from April 12th – May 27th.

2021-2022 Pre-Registration Forms

Although it seems like a long way off, we are already making plans for next year. Any help or information you can give us is appreciated.

Attached are pre-registration forms for the 2021-2021 school year. If you know of any families who are interested in enrolling their child or have kindergarten-age children, pass this information on to them or contact the school and we will send an invitation and packet out to them.

We hope that all of our students return for the next year and that we are blessed with many new faces in our midst.

Christian Education and teaching our children to study God’s Word and apply it to their lives is the most precious gift we can give them.

Coca-Cola Rewards Challenge

From March 8th to the 12th you can put your coke caps in your classroom’s container located outside the office. However, if you have any reward codes from the cardboard boxes Coca-Cola 12 and 24 packs come in, you can put those in other classrooms to take points away.

At the end of the week, the class with the most points will win a prize!

Kroger Earnings

We recently received a check from Kroger in the amount of $51.22 thanks to our family and friends who shop and earn for Salem. These funds go to our Faculty Continuing Education Fund, which allows our teachers to attend enrichment courses.

If you shop at Kroger and have not signed up to earn for Salem, please do so at: Salem’s enrollment code is DG733. Then when you scan your Kroger shopper’s card, it automatically sends a percentage of your purchases directly to the school.

Spring Break

This year’s spring break is scheduled for March 28th – April 5th. School resumes on April 6th at 8 am.

We have many 2017-2018 yearbooks for purchase. They are $13 a piece. If you would like to buy one, or know someone who would like to buy one, please contact the school office.

If you wish to purchase this year's yearbook, 2020-2021, please visit Our school code is 13758621.

The Church Is Taking Shape

The building is not yet complete, but we are making finishing touches in earnest now (floor tiles and local tropical hardwood pew pictured below). Otherwise, ministry work at Cruz de Cristo continued last month with the weekly Covid-19 food aid for the local community and neighboring village of Xcalak. New families are registering every week and are exposed to God's message of salvation through grace and invited to church Bible studies. In addition, we are pleased to share the Word with English speakers on Sundays through short, interactive worship services. God is richly blessing this mission with various resources to create a beautiful church to praise him and grow spiritually and in other areas.

We'd like to incorporate services for the community in the future. Possibilities abound, like greenhouse/garden, playground, gym/workout center, coffee corner, educational sessions from locals on various topics, art workshops, and of course, Bible classes for all ages and stages in life.

Construction workers continue working hard at the finishing touches: installing electrical boxes, plastering walls, adding window frames, etc. Doors and windows are next! We hope and pray to move to the "almost-finished" building before Easter. Thank you for your prayers and support!
