What is REM Sleep?
REM sleep (Rapid Eye Movement) is a stage of sleep that is repeated multiple times while asleep. During REM sleep your heart rate increases, your body heats up uncontrollably, your breathing multiplies, your eyes are at a conscious state and your brain is working faster then it is while awake. REM sleep is a dream machine close to all of your dreams are during REM sleep, and they are also your most intense. According to some researchers "REM sleep is a way to store memories and sort them through out the day." The only part of the brain that shuts down is the logic center. This is how ideas collide with others to create fresh, new ideas. Some people say that this is how Albert Einstein figured out E=MCsq or Salvador Dali' came up with his famous painting "the persistence of memory". REM sleep is a place where you can learn a lot of things because memories come from REM sleep.
What is Lucid Dreaming?
Lucid dreaming is when a dreamer can know he or she is dreaming. This enables them to control the dream, they can do anything they want to. Lucid dreaming was discovered by researchers at Liverpool University, and Stanford University. Researchers have also proven that Lucid dreaming is a learnable skill, and companies also make machines, masks and other tools to make you become a lucid dreamer. Another skill that people can learn is dream incubation, is when you can think hard about a topic and magically dream it. No body has found out how to master it, and nobody has studied it but it will probably be out soon!
This is an example of what lucid dreaming may look like after the dreamer notices that it is a dream.
