Rainbow Garden
All youth who are interested in learning more about flower gardening and helping with a community service project are encouraged to sign-up for Rainbow Garden. Rainbow Garden is the flower garden located at Heritage Care Center that was started by 4-H and local Master Gardeners assist with the project. The group will begin meeting May 21st and more details will be available soon! Rainbow Garden also needs adult leaders or volunteers to help so please let the office know if you are interested in helping!
Animal Science Day Camp
We will be holding an animal science day camp at the fairgrounds on Tuesday, June 7th from 9:00 am—4:00 pm.
Youth will learn about animal science careers, disease traceability, marbling, animal genetics, horses, electrophoresis, animal senses, body heat.
Make sure to sign up by Tuesday, May 31st and the registration fee is $20 which includes supplies and snacks. Participants will need to bring a sack lunch.
Sewing Workshops
Sew for Fun
Tuesday, May 24th & Wednesday, May 25th, 9 am – Noon, Extension Office – Bring basic sewing supplies and fabrics. Basic sewing supplies: scissors, seam ripper, measuring tape, thread to match fabric, seam gauge, pins and needle. Youth will be making pillowcases or patchwork pillows. If you did not attend the March workshop have fabrics for pillows already cut before the workshop. Patterns available at the Extension Office. Registration deadline May 20th and $5 registration fee.
Clothing Level 1
Friday, May 27th, 10am -3 pm (2nd day TBA), First Baptist Church - Patterns should be very simple. No set in sleeves or ruffles. Short or pants must have elastic pull on waist. Registration deadline May 20th and $5 registration fee.

2016 Animal Identification Guidelines
Youth Livestock Quality Assurance Training
4-Her’s can now complete their Livestock Quality Assurance requirement online! All 4-Her’s enrolled in swine, beef, sheep, dairy goat, dairy cattle, meat goat, rabbits or poultry need to complete Livestock Quality Assurance. 4-Her’s completing their quality assurance requirement online must complete three modules and present their three certificates to their local county extension office prior to June 15th. There will be a $5 fee that each participant must pay before they will have access to course.
The course is divided into three levels: Junior (ages 8-10), Intermediate (ages 11-14), Senior (15-18). Each year youth are required to complete three modules within their age level. Each youth needs to have an e-mail address that they can use to log onto the website. Youth may work ahead and complete as many modules as possible in order to maximize the $5 course fee. Intermediate and Senior age youth also have the option to test out of Quality Assurance training at no charge. Contact the office for more information.

HOW TO FILL OUT YOUR FAIR ENTRIES
All Fair Entries are due WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15th by 5 pm!!!!
- Clothing Entries - Each exhibitor needs to turn in a clothing entry sheet which can be found at http://extension.unl.edu/statewide/jefferson/4-Hfairbook/ we can schedule you an interview time with the judges.
- Fashion Show Entries - Each exhibitor needs to turn in a fashion show entry sheet which can be found at http://extension.unl.edu/statewide/jefferson/4-Hfairbook/ Each exhibitor also needs to turn in a fashion show description sheet for each clothing item that they will be modeling during the fashion show judging and public fashion show. - Foods Entries - Each exhibitor needs to turn in a foods entry sheet which can be found at http://extension.unl.edu/statewide/jefferson/4-Hfairbook/ so we can schedule you an interview time with the judges.
- Livestock Entries (4-H, FFA & Open Class) - Each exhibitor needs one entry sheet per livestock species and can be found http://extension.unl.edu/statewide/jefferson/4-Hfairbook/.
- Livestock Ownership Affidavit (4-H & FFA) - Any exhibitor that is borrowing a livestock animal will need to fill out an ownership affidavit and have the owner sign off that you will be using their animal at the fair. The form can be found at http://extension.unl.edu/statewide/jefferson/animalresources/.
- Static Exhibit Entries - Everything that is exhibited in the 4-H Building needs to be pre-entered for the fair and can be found http://extension.unl.edu/statewide/jefferson/4-Hfairbook/ Please do not put foods, clothing or livestock on this entry sheet. If you have additional exhibits that you would like to bring to the fair you can bring them, but you will have to fill out entry cards at the fair for those exhibits.
