How are light and sound different?

Sound and light

Sound and light are very different. And there are a lot of differences between them. For example sound can only travel in media that has particles in it such as solids, liquids and gases, but not vacuum! Sound travels by means of sound waves. The vibrations pass on through particles. Sound is harder to hear through liquids and solids because the more dense the object is, the less sound will make through. However light can travel mostly through every space even vacuum, but it travels in straight lines. Light travels at approximately 299,792,258 meters per second. Some of light can be seen and some of it is invisible. Light waves can also reflect and refract. Reflection occurs when light waves bounce off something, for example a mirror. Light bounces of the mirror and changes its direction. When we look at the objects around you, light bounces off of the object and back to your eyes. Refraction is a bending of a wave when it enters a medium where its speed is different.

Also the differences between the light and sound are clear by their definition. Light is an electromagnetic radiation,visible to the human eye. Where as sound is vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach a person's ear. And the last but not least point which is very important- light is faster than sound.
